Both at their respective peaks. Burley defeated Archie Moore at middleweight.

Burley was a true uncrowned king, a tough guy who would have been a very difficult opponent for all the best middleweights in history. And also for an incredible champion like Roy Jones, who would have found victory (on points) thanks to his speed, his exceptional reflexes and his unorthodox style. For me Roy in his prime was unbeatable from 160 pounds to 175, and he showed his class against two great champions like Hopkins and Toney.

I think RJJ is a bit too big, but too much for Burley… though they rave on and on about CB’s punch he may hurt Roy? I don’t think it’s out of the question for Burley to figure out how to get RJJ, to me CB would need to punch with RJJ.

I think Burley can win this.

Burley beat the likes of Archie Moore (dropped him four times), Jack Chase, Aaron Wade, Holman Williams, etc. And in the footage we have of him against OK Billy Smith, he looked absolutely spectacular. That performance lines up with his incredible resume, super consistent and impressive.

Jones, on the other hand, definitely had great showings against guys like Jorge Castro and Thomas Tate. But I think he missed a lot of opportunities and a ton of shots against B-Hop in their title fight, even if he did show solid fundamentals there.

I’m putting my money on the guy who’s more proven against all-time greats and better opposition at the weight. Just my two cents.
