Can anybody give me a detailed analysis of Charley Burley's style. Just watched a video called Analyzing Genius on youtube which describes Burley's stance and various techniques involved in his style. Burley appears to have a really side on stance, and uses his left shoulder (similar to Mayweather) to protect his chin. I could be way off the mark which is why I'm hoping some of you know a bit more about Burley's style than I do. Thanks.
All Boxers develope a style of their own - it's who you are and what your made of that imparts yourself into everything you do in life, and especially fighting! However, Boxing as an art, a trade if you will, it is taught & learned and there are basic technics and standards that most incorporate into the complete fighter, as well as the advise, technics and styles of instructors or other fighters one might relate too and model themselves after... and in this I've asked this question before about Burley. I see strong similarities between Burley & Lloyd Marshall and Archie Moore, ALL Great fighters and craftsmen. I always wondered IF the common ground was a WEST Coast style and shared among many of the fighters there and the Murderers Row, as they competeted often against one another and got more recognition and breaks on the West Coast???

His radar/head movement, left hook lead, left hook counter and stance is similar to Roy Jones. He's a little more orthodox than Jones though and he uses the jab more effectively, although not nearly as quick.
I don't know, woudn't say Burley looked very similar to Jones. The way he jumped and potshotted with counters against bigger/stronger opponent kinda reminded Mayweather vs Baldomir. Maybe it's just me.
