Looks like he just picked out his personal faves from his youth and/or the fighters he worked with combined with a few of the more conventional choices. Some of those are just mind-boggling.

Well he's picking the best fighters he's seen, I presume, which helps explain some of the more bizzare picks. I think no room for Saddler is my favourite effort.

Which is what Bill Butcher on this board also does and his lists look similar awful. I don´t think you can rank fighters by seeing them fight. There is too much room for speculation. To judge them you need to see them though.

Of course you can. Nothing wrong with it at all, as long as that is what you are doing. It's when you try to create an ATG list based heavily upon your own opinions of their quality on film that objective mistakes can occur. In fairness, maybe that's exactly what Rose has done, though, I'm just speculating.

I think I dind´t articulate myslef right. Of course you can do it. But it´s unjust to all the fighters you haven´t seen.

Yeah, it is, what's extraordinary about this guy is that he was a fighter/promoter/trainer for the past 60 years, and saw more than your average cat.

It is interesting though, I've ot a list of Nat fleischers top 10 in every weight from round about the same year, I'll type it out tomorrow and compare. I think he had some of the more contemporary fighters in his list, Jofre for example.

I'll try and do it later. It's in the ring record book 1967.

What is particularly horrific about his lightweight list?

Odder yet, given his bias, no McAulliffe. I would love to hear his explanation of his choices, or at least the criteria for his list.
