Fought for the world Lightweight title four times and for the world welterweight title once. Despite all of his attempts he never wona world title and despite his legendary power never had the finishing instinct to truly become a champion. How good was White how would he compare against modern fighters?

The old timers call the left hook the unseen punch for it comes out of nowhere and knocks you senseless, and the toughest left hooker of them all is life!!
Followed closely by Charlie White of Chicago.

To be honest I don't know much about him, but with a name like that, he must be good, haha.

Apparently he left hooked Benny Leonard clean out of the ring in his title challenge ,but Leonard regrouped and dropped him 5 times in the ninth and last round.
Benny had an underrated right cross himself

By all who saw Benny Leonard when he held the lightweight crown for seven years, never avoiding the best contenders---
He was the equal in all around ability to the later and Welterweight champ
Ray Robinson...This view according to Ray Arcel, and other experts held
Leonard in the same boxing Pantheon as Joe Gans and Ray Robinson....
    Praise indeed !!!

I recall both Steve Lott Big Fights inc and the underground N.Y.C. boxing legend Malcolm Flash Gordon evaluating prime Benny Leonard disrespectfully to say the least. These were a coupla shrude evaluators of boxing talent. What say you?

I you are asking me? I am just a fan.
I believe Gordon helped enormously to uncover the dodgy ratings of the US Championships, along with Alex Wallua..Lott is a former disciple of D'Amato is he not?
As to their abilities to evauate talent?
Can you name some of their discoveries?

Lott did not discover Mike Tyson. He was a friend and employee of Jim Jacobs, they met through handball. Cus D'Amato who was training the young, amateur Tyson at this point contacted Jacobs and Cayton as the money with the opportunity to manage him/fund him. They jumped at the chance and whenever Tyson stayed in New York Lott acted as his babysitter. Later he would act as corner man, carrying the spit bucket for Kevin Rooney, as his experience in the corner was marginal at best. He wasnt even close to having discovered Tyson.

Ok i Kinda know that but lets start over.
    Try again
Lott and Flash were capable and shrude evaluators of fighters. I never read better fight reports then da flash
As far as "discovering" anybody...a tot in the kid gloves?? maybe they did maybe they didn't Its not really relevant.
Also stands to reason Lott would repete the evaluations of cus, as i assume you agree?
Both heavily dissed the film of Benny in his prime vs Tendler

Yeah, I wasnt arguing with the core point you were making. Indeed, I would trust Lott's opinion and Flash even moreso. Both guys had a good head on their shoulders and their opinion carries a lot of weight IMO.

That being said I dont agree with either in regards to Leonard. His record speaks for itself as do the observations those that saw him fight and lived well into the Lott/Flash era. Little film exists but by all accounts Leonard could do it all in the ring.
