I'm not blaming edwards one bit, completely agree you need to take opportunities when they are presented. My gripe is with the IBF for sanctioning this fight. Edwards was English and WBC international silver champion, so how on earth does that qualify him for a shot at the full IBF title??
A lil crude but fast, powerful, hard hitting guy who has more stamps on his passport than most. A genuine road warrior. He's got wins over Cesar Canchila, Luis Alberto Lazarte, Pedro Guevara, Amnat Ruenroeng-ALL on the road, and Ardin Diale at home. Only losses are to Amnat (in a foul fest in Thailand) Moruti Mthalane and Ramon Garcia Hirales (another controversial one). Edwards is gonna be chin checked...BIG time
And call me old fashioned but the British title is far from ****e, especially when the current flyweight holder is a former European amateur champion & world championship silver medalist. In my opinion British title fights, are usually barnstormers, and i'm disappointed that edwards has ducked selby for it.
He got offered a world title shot? What do you want him to say? "Nah am going to reject that Eddie rather wait for the british"
Why can your brain not comprehend what i'm saying. I'll bullet point it for you: Congrats on Edwards on getting a world title shot Congrats to EH for getting him a world title shot. **** the IBF for sanctioning this, apparently you don't need to be highly ranked in their standings to be given a world title shot. Is that clear enough?
I dont understand why people expect him to take the Selby fight now, when he can get paid a lot more for it in the future, when its built correctly and is a much bigger fight.
I understand your point completely, but in this context, the loser of a british title fight will come again for sure. Both Edwards and Selby are going to be world level. Forget having one fight, we could have trilogy!
