I know that Goldman had once been a fighter and that Marciano wasn't the only boxer he trained but Rocky was his crown jewel as a teacher. The way that he adapted and improved is style without sacrificing what Rocky did have {power} Every time Charlie Goldman tweaked Marciano`s style or added something to his arsenal he always ask Rocky "does this feel natural? Can you hit from there?" Angelo Dundee said that he had Rocky punch the heavy bag while basically doing squats, he would squat down and come up punching. Dundee believed this helped developed Marciano`s uncommon stamina. Most of us have heard or read about Goldman tying Rocky`s right arm up to help develop his left. These are just some examples of the work Goldman did with Marciano.

What other trainers have done similar jobs developing their fighter? Perhapes Eddie Futch with Joe Frazier in the mid 60s. Or even his work with Riddick Bowe in the early 90s. Jack Blackburn/Joe Louis. Any thoughts?

If you can get "The Cornermen" by Ron Fried. It will give you insight into a variety of great trainers. Ray Arcel and Freddie Brown polished Roberto Duran and many others.
