Ota - Garcia will fight for the WBA interm super welter weight title. Don't know how true this is, has anyone heard anything ?
That's actually a pretty good match-up (skill vs. power) but most fans - and I'm talking over 90% - probably have no idea who either of these guys are. Shame, because if Bellamy had been brought up via the Telefutura/ESPN circuit he might actually be pretty well known. As for La Amenaza, if anybody knows him it's as the guy that made Margarito look like Willie Pep. Massively strong and not undisciplined, just too bad he's one of the slowest people to ever lace em up. Give Bellamy proper management based in the Western hemisphere, and Garcia some more speed - and both could be top contenders.
I've seen Garcia fight a few times damn that fool can punch, I've never seen Ota. How do u see this fight turning out ?
isnt mundine/mckart for the wba interim title ? ive saw charlie ota fight once on the undercard of martinez/macklin and wasnt overly impressed
The problem is we have no idea how well Bellamy can take a punch, since it was never truly given a proper test while in Japan.
Against Gundrick King? :conf He looked alright. Could have gotten rid of him a bit earlier, maybe, but was pretty much always in control. His best performances have come against Davidson and the pairs with Yuba and Shibata.
:good This is my feeling, so long as his chin holds up (as it's unlikely he'll avoid getting hit by Garcia at all over 12 long rounds ... he isn't an Austin Trout type...) The thing people need to realize is that he took up boxing very late in life and only had half a dozen amateur bouts before turning pro. He's been "learning on the job" ever since. He's thoroughly dominated the domestic scene in Japan, which is creditable under those circumstances even though it isn't the highest level of competition. Interesting story, his. An African-American from NYC, he's been living in Japan for close to half his life now and they basically consider him one of their own rather than an outsider. He was stationed there originally while serving in the US navy, decided he liked it so much he pursued a career there as an English teacher, and only fell into boxing almost accidentally. It was originally a hobby for fitness that he took up, but wound up enjoying it and showing enough promise that he figured "what the hell do I have to lose" and began competing.
He isn't anywhere near as proven as Smith yet, but hopefully he has more of a winning mentality. It would be hard for someone not to.
I love to watch boxing but I don't know all the fighters that are not always on tv. Garcia has been on tv quite a bit and Ota none that I recall I just wanna see a good fight don't wanna be put to sleep like some of them ppv
