Molina is overrated. A forum legend. All we hear are all tales of the fighter he used to be. Charlo will school him.

You're kind of looking at it with horse blinders and oversimplifying.

Yes, Molina gave Lara a hard time and Lara is probably more skilled than Charlo - but you have to keep in perspective a) how long ago that was and b) the fact that for all his talents and pedigree, Lara is very hot and cold and often gets into scrapes and close-calls with opponents he is expected by most to easily outbox without incident. (Martirosyan's roughhousing bothered him plenty, as did Angulo's raw power, and the work rate of Williams...now, Lara absolutely 100% should have gotten the nod over Williams, but he was restrained enough with his output to allow what happened to happen...) As incredibly gifted as he is, Lara is an imperfect fighter.

It's funny you in that same breath should bring up Smith, because Smith - while a friend of mine - has nothing over Charlo (not boxing skill, not athletic talent) but experience. Molina barely got by Smith. I had it a draw.

Yes, Molina had success with a doubtless bigger puncher than Charlo in Kirkland - but you have to keep in perspective a) that was also two years ago, during which time Molina has yet to ever look quite the same (implying Kirkland may have taken something from him), b) Kirkland is a bigger yes but also more spastic puncher than Charlo, far less refined in his offensive abilities, and c) regardless of how poorly that DQ fiasco was handled, you can't deny that it was looking very likely Molina was about to get legitimately KTFO.

Charlo and his brother are both excellent boxers, who excel primarily because they don't have one standout trait making them somewhat one-dimensional (Kirkland with his bombs; Lara with pot-shot counters, etc) - just solid all-around, young and hungry while Molina fought hard all the way up and has now reached the summit...and might not be as motivated as in wild-card "headache for the elites" days. That, and physically, he seems a bit ragged now in comparison with then.

The gap in skill between Klitschko and Fury is about ten million times wider than between Lomachenko and Salido. :yep

    ranges from + 162 to +200ish

This is an even money fight in my opinion so it isn't a huge edge to push...but, as we saw with the Lomachenko-Salido line, an edge(IMO) nonetheless. That said, don't bet huge and don't go nuts if Charlo wins.

    Sound advice.

Charlo is a rightful favorite, although 1/2 might be a little dismissive of the reigning champ if only given the gulf in experience.

I'm not surprised. Charlo is well rounded and I bet he'll be able to avoid all the clinching. In a straight up clean boxing match Molina (who is mostly known for being an over-achiever and being "crafty") is overmatched.

charlo twins are legit and a threat to everyone at 154.

molina has seen it all. should be interesting. i wonder how him being locked up is going to play into this. he may have missed important final preparation. let's see what happens.

IBF light middleweight champion Carlos Molina has been jailed in Las Vegas two days before a scheduled fight.

Molina is being held at the Clark County jail on a federal immigration hold and a warrant accusing him of failing to register as a *** offender seven years ago in Wisconsin.

Las Vegas police Officer Laura Meltzer said Thursday the 30-year-old Molina was arrested Tuesday on a 2007 warrant from Outagamie (out-ah-GAY'-mee) County, Wisconsin.

Molina made an appearance Thursday before a Las Vegas judge and tried to post $10,000 bail.

But Meltzer says his release was denied after Las Vegas police learned he was also sought by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Molina (22-5-2, 6 KOs) is scheduled to fight Jermall Charlo (17-0, 13 KOs) on Saturday.

Genuine BS to call him a *** offender when you read about the actual case. A horrible slur for what was essentially two teens fooling about.

Lots of conflicting stuff on Twitter.

    On/off/on/off/on...

Part of me hopes it stays off because the idea of him getting more than a quarter million just to show up on Saturday night (that's right; he stands to make triple what Charlo is set to earn, 100k) kind of turns my stomach at this point..
