Nice doubleheader. Jarrett Hurd is not that good. Not top level anyway. Not a great boxer, not that fast, doesn't hit that hard. Trout's got this. What evidence is there that Trout has significantly deteriorated? He acquitted himself well against Jermall Charlo, and looked pretty good in his other recent bouts. 32 isn't old these days, he's never taken a beating, and he's been pretty inactive so should preserve himself well enough.

I like Jermell over Lubin. Lubin is fun and has good power and offense, but he's slower footed, and Charlo has the much better technique and defensive reaction. Charlo just has to avoid a brawl and he should win. I also don't understand the narrative that Jermall's awesome and Jermell's average. Their skillsets are similar, just Jermall is better at putting an attack together.

About time. Not surprised Trout gets passed around again. He's got the world-class sparring partner role all to himself now that Vanes is out of the stable. He's not there to win, and as long as he plays that role, he'll keep getting good fights and paydays.

    Gimme Lubin and Hurd here.

One would hope with all these guys tied up, that he'd pretty much HAVE to fight Andrade as theres no one else available of note

agreed, i really dont rate Hurd and i thought Trout looked good against Charlo (or Charlo looked bad) i had that fight either 1 round to Charlo or a draw, cant remember which way i gave one of the swing rounds. although Trout seems to get a bit of a raw deal on the cards

That's a bit harsh on Trout.

He gave it his all against Charlo and lost a razor tight decision.
What makes you think he isn't coming to win?

two great fights, I'm pretty high on Lubin, I think
he's one of the few guys that hasn't had a top 10 win yet
but by the eye test looks like he'll fit in fine. Little Charlo
has been on a rip lately and has shown more power though.
I've seen Little Charlo struggling with who I perceive as
lesser boxers than Lubin though and I give Lubin the edge.
(Ask me next week though and I may change my mind, it's
    a close fight)

Hurd is a big guy with less power than you'd think
but still strong and looks to have a good chin. Trout is quite honestly the most underrated
top 10 guy at JMW. I don't think Hurd can detonate Trout (no one
has been able to yet), and I don't see a scenario where he outboxes him either.
Trout wins this one. Even though the rankings don't show it, I still think
Trout is a top 3 JMW. Only guys that beat him are Lara (Obviously) and Andrade.
I see no one else at the weight that beats him.

I don't think it's harsh, it's a business move. Kind of like how Al pays Lara a lot to fight in mismatches in exchange for keeping him away from his more marketable guys in the stable. That's a win win for both guys.

We'll see soon if my theory with Trout is off base or not. If I'm wrong and he comes to win, I'll admit I was mistaken. I think it's more likely he'll do enough to lose somewhat competitively, and it won't be a coincidence.

Edit: also, ask yourself why step-aside money would be paid to Hurd's mandatory so Hurd could take a voluntary fight with Trout in the meantime. When do you see young titlists pass up an easy, experience-building mandatory so they can fight a tougher voluntary, in the same stable, who's coming off a loss? Its because Trouts still got some name value left, and Haymon can easily shelf Trout if he breaks the script. Or, Trout can play along, and get another fight vs the next up and comer.

Lubins coming out party he destroys charlo.. and hurd vs trout is a toss up. if prime trout shows up I think he would win easily. but gonna go with hurd in a close fight . 115-113 116-112
