It seems he couldn't still get over the fact that Montiel exposed him. He's probably scared that he will do the chicken dance again.

The pressure is all on Jermello

The onus is on him to try and prove that US boxers can compete with Aussie ones

To prove that US boxing is on that level

The question the people are now asking is

Is that pressure now getting to Jermello?

Paper Champ. Too afraid to face the best fighter he's yet to face. I'm convinced he doesn't want to fight Tim.

Even when he does "come back" from the heart...I mean hand injury, he's not going to be fighting Tim first fight back. By the time Charlo gets in the ring again it will be close to two years since he last fought.

    Send in the clowns.

Relax Beaver. The fact that Timmy would take a fight in June was foreshadowed on the Stifler's Mum thread weeks ago. The fight with Charlo could slip well beyond August. A fight in June will keep The Tool Train razor sharp for the second half of the year. People forget he was off for a year himself prior to the Tony Harrison fight. Another good hit out will have him primed & ready to go Undisputed later in the year. Something that was also foretold on the Stifler's Mum thread many moons ago.

Sure, there's significant risk involved. He could get injured himself or (perish the thought) get done. Particularly if he faces the toughest opponent they can find. But another couple of things could happen. He could get a tough, hard 12 rounds under his belt & become a better fighter. And be better prepared than he is currently to face the best in the division. It reminds me of when King Kostya got 12 unspectacular but hard-fought rounds under his belt against Oktay Urkal in June of 2001 before he iced Zab later in the year.

I like Charles Conwell, Brian Castano or that Russian IBF & now WBO #1 contender as the opponent. That's if they aren't too chic-ken.

I think so, Serge. American boxing is on the skids. They're talking about Devin Haney being the light & the way over there. That's how bad they're going.

It's a different heat down here.

There's no question about it. Up until recent years Aussie or Down Under boxing, and I'm sure you guys will no doubt agree with me here, was substandard due to it being more a niche sport over there and the popularity of countless other sports your athletes, like us Brits, excel or punch far above your weight at. But you've started to bridge the gap in recent years since you started taking the sport more seriously and the US is really struggling to compete with your top boys now like they struggle to do so with ours too.

Jermello is clearly rattled after seeing Tszyu not only beat the man who beat him, albeit to be fair Castano and one or two others have done so too but been robbed by the judges, but who was also whooping his ass in the rematch until he gassed.

And even more impressive, he even predicted the exact round he would stop him and whilst I'm far from the type to toot my own horn, I was very confident Tszyu was going to KO him too. So he not only KO'd the man who beat the man 1.5 times but he predicted the manner of victory and the exact round he would get him out of there. That definitely would've put the willies up Jermello big time.

Yes, Haney has never even fought a single world champion remotely close to his size. He's been beating up on shot old featherfisted leprechauns half his size with the exception of Kambosos who he's still way bigger and heavier than and he hugged him to death about 1000 times. If he wasn't allowed to octopus grab him all night Kambosos would've cracked that chin and he's not even a big puncher and he's average sized at best for the weight.

I have a lot of respect for the true greats of American boxing of days long gone but not so much for many of the ones of today.

It's a good thing America keeps producing those 27-second long-count referees & makes opponents weigh-in a full weight division below the house fighter or just how far they've fallen would send what remains of their boxing fan base over to the UFC. I think many years of playing with a stacked deck has diminished the capability of American fighters.

Even on the rare occasions when they travel & fight away, the Yankee Doodle fighters want a stacked deck. I give credit to Devin Haney & Tony Harrison for sitting on a plane for 12+ hours (probably more like 18 in the case of Tony Harrison) & coming out here but they also insist that all the officials for the fights be brought in from far-away places. We've been getting judges from places like Hungary & Poland to score their fights. And the judges themselves score favourably for the Yankee Doodles b/c they know the only reason they're there is b/c the Yankee Doodles won't fight unless they are. It's not like when an Australian fighter goes to America & has to fight with two American judges & an American ref (who doesn't know how to count up to 10).

I think all the molly-coddling of American fighters has made them soft & Charlo's injuries & lack of zeal for combat are a manifestation of that.

Perfectly stated and that's a US ref and three US judges for world title fights in the US between an American and a foreigner and all neutral officials or a home ref and at worse one home judge and one US judge for world title fights between an American and foreigner in the foreigner's backyard. The former is very common whereas, conversely, the later (a full set of home officials outside the US) literally never happens.
