I'd say mostly 'OK' fighters he beat at 154. None of whom went on to do much after him though. Which to me, is a sign of a top fighter, how they rebound from a loss. I use Berto as an example of his comp being relatively weak despite the titles held. Not quite Deontay wilder level of garbage defenses of course. Just feel at their age, both bros best are behind them. And a lot of lost opportunity gone as well. They should have been campaining against the top guys by age 26 or so, IMO.
yeah the ring announcers name was Ray Connelly, Sydneys main ring announcer, he did so many Fenech fights, one of Bill Mordeys ( Fenechs promoter) buddies. He used to take a stroll around the ring while he waffled on with his announcing of the fighters.
Yeah, I was a big Kostya fan. I have been going through some old vhs that I recorded off tv back in the day, some good tv interviews and fight hjghlights with Fenech and Harding. Glad you mentioned 'Iron chinned' Harding before. Man he could take a punch and a smart guy back in the day with a good personality, charisma. Shame what happened to guys like him and Spike Cheney later on.
Harding's head was made of granite. I have a soft spot for iron-jawed fighters who seen impervious to punishment and can just take a ridiculous amount of flush bombs and that certainly applied to Harding Yeah it is
Harrison was originally a cherry pick for Charlo he had been KO'd by Hurd and Nelson so they thought Charlo will KO him then make a fight with Hurd. But they underestimated Tony's boxing skills it was a cherry pick gone horribly wrong on what was supposed to be a showcase night for both of the Charlo's.
https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/tony-harrison-is-still-a-bad-man.684784/ You said on the thread above that Tony impressed you in his last fight and in the next fight you claim hes shot FfS. Youre one of those guys who say a fighter is prime or shot depending on who they are fighting. A good example of that is Cotto when he fought Pacquiao you claimed he was damaged goods and past it but then some years later with more miles on his body including a beating from Pacquiao he fights a fighter you like (Floyd) and Cotto is back to being in his prime and Floyd is facing the best version of Cotto ever. I bet if Harrison fights Spence or other fighter you like he will go from being shot when he fought Timmy to being in the form of his life again against the guy you like.
He impressed me because I thought he was done he drew with Perrella who's not any good in the previous fight. If I thought Harrison was still good I would've picked him to beat Tszyu but I didn't. You're here acting like Harrison is still prime his legs are gone he's not the same guy who charlo fought. Lastly I wouldn't say if Spence fought and beat Harrison it would be a great win. It would be a tune up for a new weight class nothing more.
He wasn't a cherrpick many people here picked him to beat charlo because of his movement and boxing ability. But yes it was supposed to be a big deal because the twins fought on the same card on a major network for the first time.
Many people on here picked Harrison to beat Tszyu because of his movement and boxing ability. What are you gonna say if Charlo vacates and doesn't fight Tszyu?
If he does that it will be a ***** move but I don't think he will do that. He's pretty much fought everyone they put in front of him.
Hopefully he doesn't pull a ***** move his brother is already damaging the family name. It would be a disgrace to the city of Houston if he was to duck somebody from soft ass Sydney.
Charlo twins ain't the only fighters from houston oshaquie foster ammo Williams from here to and prograis lara Shakur Stevenson and jared Anderson all live and fight out of houston.
Stevenson is from New Jersey tryna claim him as a Houston product is weak. Sydney got Tim Tszyu, Kambosos, Opetaia originally from Sydney, Nikita Tszyu, Aokuso, and Lucas Browne originally from Sydney.
Yep, that first fight with Andries, inspirational stuff! As a teen, I loved the guy, **** football codes go on about knocks to the head etc, forget about it! I remember just after Harding left Johnny Lewis and Manny Hinton took over his training, so he fell out with Fenech. Jeff Fenech was interviewing Mike Tyson for the aussie pub channel Sky. Tyson asked him "hey, what happened to the other guy?" Fenech replied "what other guy?" Then Tyson remembers "Harding". "Oh, he's around"says Fenech. Then Tyson cracked up laughing .
