Who has Pavlik beaten of note.. what longtime champion.. Jermain Taylor fought and struggled with three 154 lb fighters before Pavlik and had no chin afterward.. So who did great fighters did Pavlik beat.. was it Rubio or was it Lockett.. Pavlik was good in his era but against faster fighters he struggled he was a strong plodder nothing special..
I never said Pavlik beat great fighters but his resume craps all over Charlo's as does that of Taylor. Taylor's run of Hopkins x 2, Wright, Ouma and Spinks is vastly superior to anything Charlo has done. At this moment in time Charlo is hype.
Prime Pavlik was great! But i think Charlo its way better than Taylor in every aspect ! Still its a mythical bout so opinions are like....
You’re giving Taylor credit for Wright , Ouma, and Spinks at 160.. Each fighter were career 154 lb fighters.. Trout and K9 resumes are better than Ouma and Spinks(who K9 best twice)..
That’s what I’m saying it’s hypothetical but Charlo is much better than Taylor.. I hate comparing eras because it’s difficult.. As good as Pavlik was the MWs today are much faster, bigger, and stronger than Lockett Rubio Miranda etc.. Pavlik and Sergio would struggle with GGG BJS Andrade Charlo
Now we’re having a real conversation.. Be has decent scalps at 154 but you knew he was not going to be there long.. he’s at his peak weight and although he has thesillks to be the best 160he still has to prove it.. But who’s gonna give him the shot.. BJS already said he’s not a big enough name GGG will drop the WBC because he’s not a big enough name.. Jacobs will wait until all other options has been exhausted before he give him a shot.. so here we are at a stand still.. all the guys at 160 are gonna fight around each other because they want the money fights
I don't care if that was a drunk poor Pavlik, even that version viciously KO's Trout, J-Rock, Centeno and Heiland, Charlo's best wins. And so what, he lost to BHop, so did Pascal shortly after, and people tend to forget, Pavlik moved up two divisions from 160 to 175 to face Hopkins. Trout should have got the nod over Jermall, can you imagine what Hopkins would have done to him? Prime Pavlik vs. GGG is 50/50, I've always thought Pavlik would have had a chance. Taylor was undefeated when he fought Pavlik, and went on to outbox Froch for a large portion of their match, in terms of skill Taylor was solid and could easily hang with Charlo, his chin and stamina let him down, Bad Intentions had a Bad Gastank.
Zuniga at the time was a decent scalp, and Pavlik was the first guy to stop him, something DeGale, Cloud and N'Dam couldn't pull off. Zertuche was a decent scalp, another guy Pavlik stopped before anyone else. McKart was a decent scalp who once again Pavlik stopped for the first time. Edison Miranda, aside from his signature win, was his second best win, and he violently stopped him, something even Yunier Dorticos couldn't pull off. Very underrated win, that version of Miranda gives Charlo hell. Miranda probably should've been given a TKO victory over AA the first match, which was a bloodbath that without the deducted points Edison may have won. Marco Antonio Rubio who arguably should have a draw with JCCJr, he stopped, something Anthony Dirrell couldn't accomplish. His win over Rosinsky is underrated, a solid tough guy with an iron chin. And he was the first guy to stop Sigmon and first and only guy to stop Lockett. Yeah Taylor's best wins were over Ouma, Spinks and Wright, all 154lbers You're leaving out Bernard Hopkins twice doe. Yeah, I know, both controversial wins, but..... That being said, Jermall Charlo's best win is over Trout a 154lber, that he lost wide in my, and many other's estimation. So it all kind of evens out doesn't it? Until Jermall Charlo can run a guy on B-Hop's level close twice and beat him like Taylor did, or beat a legit 160 beast in Miranda like Pavlik did, he doesn't deserve to be given credit for "how he looks" and considered better than either, of course he looks great, beating scrubs.... he looked average losing to Trout, that's the standard he should be held to.
He had to earn his shot at a champion at 160. He was already talking out loud about Jacobs until confronted then clamed up. His opposition at 160 has been abysmal to say the least but iirc he is now a mandatory contender so will soon be fighting one of the top guys and he can prove his metal. Atm I have GGG Jacobs Derevyanchenko BJS All beating him.
Are you being serious? First of all you lil Charlo ball licker, what evidence is there that Charlo is stronger than Pavlik? Kelly was a HUGE middleweight... the biggest middleweight of the last 20 years. Charlo is still a guy who started at 154. He's a naturally smaller man than Pavlik. Kelly's frame currently carries 230, and he doesn't even look sloppy at that weight. That lets you know the MF is a BIG guy, and physically, he was strong as an oxe. Evidence of his strength? Edison Miranda was a very strong fighter, and Pavlik threw him around like a child. Get off Charlo's dick. One guy destroyed Edison Miranda, and Jermain Taylor, while the other has beaten.... Julian Williams? Who's to say that Charlo even beats Taylor? Cause at the present moment, I'd favor Taylor in that matchup. You honestly sound like you JUST started following the sport.
BTW JaytShortBus, Pavlik actually wasn't a plodder at all. You sound like the ONLY two Pavlik fights you saw were the Hopkins and Martinez fights. Against stationary targets, Pavlik kept a very high workrate and had excellent stamina go with his accuracy and power. Learn more about this sport, then come back.
lol Jermallo hasn't beaten anyone other than Trout and he arguably lost that one He hasn't even fought a puncher down at 154 yet, let alone up at 160 Centeno KO 48% Trout KO 47% J Rock KO 54% Bundrage KO 47% Heiland KO 44% Campfort KO 46% Granted KO percentages can be deceptive but even a one-eyed casual knows that none of those guys are considered genuine bangers and Jermallo looked at least a weight class bigger than everyone he's fought so far too. Bundrage was a 42 year old dwarf, Heiland was a peg-leg cripple whose leg was so badly injured he needed assistance to make it up 3 or 4 steps at the weigh in, and Trout arguably beat him. That just leaves ''Pee Wee Herman'' Centeno whose porcelain whiskers had already been exposed by cotton bud fists Sulecki who can't punch his way through 100 year old cobwebs, and J Rock and Campfort are American Class at best.
