Why is Oquedo in the mix? He hasn't had a decent win since 2002. Even after his loss to Chaggy he still has a claim over this garbage trinket.
Its like you have to come from the bottom of the barrel to be considered.

Alright, so Lucas Browne has the opportunity to become the hero of heavyweight boxing in this millennium to date by merely going 2 for 2 and preventing the unmitigated disaster that would be Charr or Briggs as champion. Either scenario would be the final embarrassment and render HW boxing unable to ever again be taken seriously (at least in our lifetimes)

 

Fres Oquedo won a court ruling in the aftermath of his fight with Chagaev which forced the WBA to install him as the mandatory to the WBA regular title.

The WBA gave Oquendo and Lucas 30 days to get a fight set for their regular title back in the first week of September.

Since then Oquendo has reported that his injured shoulder is not ready for a fight and presented a medical certificate to support that.

The upshot is the WBA have instructed Browne and Briggs to get a fight set, and the winner will fight Oquendo.

The WBA really are a disgrace and it's not just at heavyweight that they 're a joke.

Look at LHW - they describe Kovalev as their 'Undisputed Champion' despite Stevenson's claim and their own description of Nathan Cleverly as 'WBA World Champion'. They need to be downgraded as an org for the sake of boxing as they're clearly not taking this shot seriously.

Pitful. This whole WBA regular and interim title needs to be put to rest. Neither Brown, Briggs or Charr are championship level fighters.
