Still have not seem reputable confirmation on that Charr is the new WBA Interim champion. I suspected from the outset it was a case of the blind leading the blind. More likely the WBA Interim title is vacant and the likes of Charr, Haye and Usinov are in the running to contest it.
Charr must count his lucky stars that one night a few years ago he was dealing up kebabs and vitali was in the queue.
Still have not seen reputable confirmation that Charr is the new WBA Interim champion. There is talk of him contesting it, yes. But him actually holding the title, no.
Well you asked for the source. If you're looking for reputable sources when it comes to the WBA.. good luck.
Here's another article http://www.berliner-kurier.de/sport...pft-als-interims-weltmeister-in-bonn-25035186 Quoting Charr: "I will get in the ring as the current interim HW champion of the WBA in January, in Bonn vs. an opponent to be named. Either Odlanier Solis, Jarrel Miller oder Jun Long Zhang. Later in 2017 I hope to challenge for the full WBA title and get the fight made in Cologne in the Lanxess Arena".
There are a whole lot of people saying a whole lot of things, and probably being promised a whole lot of things too. But I am yet to be convinced Charr is the the current holder of the WBA Interim title.
With the exception of maybe Zhang those guys have the potential to end the Diamond Boy world titlist farce.
You know who deserves a crack, actually? Yakup Saglam. Dead ass. He works hard and throws harder in the ring & him contending would make for a nice unlikely Rocky story, and has unsettled business with the "champ" as he was getting the best of an unmotivated and lazily undertrained Charr before the injury.
...reminds me a bit of Firat Arslan, another German-based Turk. Arslan of course is the much better overall fighter (if much less poweful) p4p, but they have some qualities in common.
Kind of funny that he and Bakhtov both were giving Charr all he could handle before suffering an unfortunate injury. Charr looked awful in his last fight against the unknown Sefer Seferi... Small natural CW with a VERY padded record. He was doing a good job at replicating what Briedis' was doing for most of the fight before Charrs pressure and size finally caught up to him. I had him taking 4-5 rounds. The knockdown(s) in the 10th saved Charr from losing or drawing on my card. But the judges probably would have given it to him anyways.
