I saw the other Thai flyweight thread and it got me thinking abou Sasakul, who had great potential, but lost to Pacquiao and then seemed to be frozen out of any big fights for around 6 years and Pongskalek who had a great reign that was interrupted by a loss and then the fights with Naito.... I feel that Sasakul would box his way to a very close decision win such as 7-5 in rounds... maybe Pong had the greater power but Chatchai was more fluid and quicker in my opinion...
sasakul was the superior fighter, though he was lazy and wasted his career.Pong had a better run in the end, but wouldn't win a fight with both at their best.
Know who would win a fight at their best with Sasakul? Pac. Not even at Pac's best, that's how great he is. BAM.
Lora, can you explain how Sasakul wasted his career? Was he self managed? I know that he had an eliminator at one point with an African fighter and it as cancelled but cant remember the reason.
I'd expect Sasakul to win a decision though if Wonjongkam blasted him. Manny of course was helped by arguably the biggest size difference in a title fight below heavyweight.
Any weights available at fight time of the Sasakul-Pacquaio fight?.. Was there really a huge size difference along the lines of Gatti-Gamache or just a visual size difference based on perception? Sasakul was one of my favorite fighters... wish he had gone immediately to 115 and had been given a significant fight instead of taking all of the uesless fights he took after his defeat to Manny
