You people have sullied my thread while I was away. Shannon Briggs is incapable of coming close to beating Welliver. Welliver has never been down in 443 HW rounds and Briggs cannot muster enough punches to win rounds from anyone. That fights is not even a contest and there is excellent reason why Briggs went from..I would fight Chauncy to it is not worth my time as soon as Chauncy appears to call him out. Chisora nor Fury could beat Welliver in the absolutely terrible shape they were in for their fight. Chisora was in the worst shape I have ever seen a HW. Chauncy was 283 against Solis on 10 days notice, not even training at the time. He had more stamina that Chisora did against Fury....and he was supposed to be training to face a dominant champ in Wladimir??? Wake up people. Welliver never had any handlers until after the Solis fight. Now that he has handlers, he is 16-0, down a full 50 pounds form the Solis fight, Top 10 to both Klit bros, and a very popular fighter in China. His handlers have made attepts to fight all of these men, and all of them declined for various reasons. Monte Barrett on the Holyfield/Williams undercard. Peter Ohkello, David Tua, Lance Whitaker, Donnell Holmes, Kali Meehan, Alex Leapai, Shannon Briggs, Chris Arreola, and now you can add Fury to the list. Welliver is only 28, just turned 28 year old. His team of Roland Jankelson and Joe Hipp has only been together for about 2 years. Their results are fantastic so far and there is no fear from Team Welliver. Chauncy will take on 1 of these Klitschko's at any time as well. When Mormeck has a yeast infection before the fight, Welliver will be ready to step in and win.
BTW Scores were 120-108 twice and 119-109. Calloway only got 1 point from 1 judge. You people think power is key? Briggs has power, he damn near died against Vitali. Stamina, work rate and chin are just as important. None of the HW's you have mentioned can match Welliver in any of those categories. The only thing the man lacks is 1 punch concussive power. But his best body attack in the HW division and best workrate in the division, makes up for much of this. This is the goal of Team Welliver for 2012....to face Wladimir and set the all time punch stat record for punches thrown and landed in a HW fight. Easy work for Welliver.
For anybody who is interested in hearing about this fight and the China trip right from Welliver, here is your chance. Later today on Spokane AM 1510, Welliver's Bi'weekly show will be on at Noon EST, 9AM PST. Hitting With The Hammer, 15 minute segment. This is the link to the radio station. Just click the listen live button. It is excellent sound quality. http://www.1510kga.com/
It was a damn good show. They extended his segment out another 15 minutes. They even talked about me twice..LOL Mousejaw knows what's up. It is actually an awesome college FB morning show as well. And they covered the baseball playoffs and Al Davis death. Quote of the show from Chauncy Welliver....."As long as I keep active and winning, I should be in the ring with a Klitschko in under 12 months!" 2 weeks from now, same time, 9:30 AM PST, 12:30 PM EST. Hitting With The Hammer!
You know your my dude right?:thumbsup And you know I got Chauncey's back right?:deal I wholly agree that Big Panda would put on a better performance than Haye, Mormeck, Dimitrenko, Adamek, Sosnowski, Chambers etc etc etc:admin, but REALISTICALLY:huh the K2 are just too fast, too strong, too skilled and too athletic for Chauncey to overcome. He's got the ability to trouble Wladimir with his constant relentless pressure, but how many jabs from the hardest jab since Holmes can Chauncey walk through to get to Wlad's body and chin. Wlad clearly gassed vs Purrity(who has the best chin in HW history statistically) and was KTFO by the SP Sanders, and was sick vs Brewster(whether poisoned or not, he was in a diabetic coma). Chauncey does have slim chance of TKOing Wlad, much better than MOST, but Vitali, even at this age, has the chin of Purrity, the power of Foreman and the footwork of Lewis. Not a good fight for our main man Chauncey. I see Chauncey as a future titlist. Or at least a top 20 contender for the next 10 yrs, but he should hold off on the K2, and wait until the WBC is vacant. He WILL beat Solis if they rematch, prolly by TKO/RTD or a UD. He will T/KO Fury if Fury let's Chauncey get to that cherry. And he could beat Banks, Johnson, maybe Chagaev, and walk right through Mormeck. Your'e absolutely right about the pretenders ducking him though, and with ESB as a voice for him, these haters on here should actually KNOW this as well. I'm hoping Vitali will retire by mid 2013(Chauncey 29), and by then, maybe CW gets his fights with Fury, then Solis in an eliminator then Vitali takes out his mandatory and retires leaving the belt open for a Welliver/Potvetkin? fight. That would be sweet. He could get his slice of the pie with the WBA regular and the WBC titles then attempt to unify with Wlad at 38. Would be a little more achievable IMO that way. But then again......you and I know how Chauncey works........when that call is made, the contract faxed......the shot there.......he's gonna go flying into that ring with his Hammers ablaze. PS. What about that Calloway fight. I still can't find it. PM me if you know something.
They asked Chauncy about what he would expect if he got the Klitschko fight. Chauncy said, realisticly, beating 1 of those guys seems like it's impossible, but I would try to win and there have been lesser fighters than myself to beat them. That's all anybody can say without bullshitting. It will take a mountain of a night to get it done. I think there is plenty of time in a year to beat down an overhyped kid like Fury or an old legend, and then get it on with a Klitschko. As it is right now, getting a Klitschko fight is a no lose situation for Welliver, even without considering the pay check. If Chauncy pulled off the win he would be an immediate legend. If he lost the fight but gave a Klitschko hell, his stock would still go up, because so many have him underrated. The only potential losing situation would be getting his doors blown off and I guarantee that would not happen. #7 HW in the world, not going anywhere, now or then.
Yeah, I guess your right. He'd hold up to Vitali's attack since Vitali doesn't throw the hard jab like Wlad, and his pressure tactics could certainly show him making a much better acct of himself than the above mentioned fighters have done.......So yeah...win-win situation. And even if he is TKOd by Wlad or UDd by Vitali, it still propels him in the rankings, FORCING the pretenders to fight him. I just really wish he could get to Fury........oooooohhh how I'm salivating over seeing Chauncey get a brutal KO over that hypejob.:deal
I've got a dollar on the Powerball lottery tonight....if I hit I will overpay for it to happen myself. LOL Fury would be a perfect opponent, Tua or Briggs would be great too. He said on the show that the Chinese are interested in a Holyfield fight and Evander was in the stadium for Welliver vs Calloway ringside watching. If Fury is not had soon, I wouldn't mind seeing Chauncy beat up on Kevin McBride real quick to try to set up more interest for it. Maybe Danny Williams? Twin Tyson conquerors. We'll have to stay tuned in to see.
williams or mc bride 2 fighters who at their best would beat chauncey , and their best was not world level I expect a fight of this nature or the fifty year old Holyfield, fights he can possibly win/ If Fury got chauncey it would be a beatdown and briggs would eat him for a snack Hw many fight has this guy had now ? and hes stuck at a particular level, you need to face facts Shannon would murk him and then he's coming after you shirtless ****** !!
Odoyle....I live next to the police station....Shannon would be running the other way. LOL This content is protected
It would take about 12 good size cops to hold briggs down without weapons Anyway , Holyfield got bigger fish to fry , isnt he fighting Povetkin
Yes, but should he pull the trick off....A defense vs Welliver in China may materialize. How awesome would that be? You beat Evander, you win a mandatory shot at Wlad, plus you probably get to put the title on the line for an optional before that. I don't think Evander is going to win though. Who knows with the guy though, he could lose and by the end of 2012 be coming back again on his same old mission and still wind up facing Welliver. You never know.
