Exactly bro. These Welliver Haters are some sick in the head people. Another one says that they have an informative thread going until I show up with the only informative post of the thread until yours. I'm the only guy that has talked to Oliver personally in the last 2 weeks. I was gonna drive 15 hours south to see Welliver vs McCall before it got postponed on from the 5th to a TBA date.

The Atomic Bull comes to fight. Welliver does too. This is a potential HW fight of the year. And is probably the highest total of HW rounds together in 1 ring without going down in history. 767 of them combined. This is at least a 4 star match we are talking about here. NZ Fight Of The Century!

  7. McCall beat fringe contender Damian Wills not to long ago; I applaud Chauncy for taking on McCall....It will show us, as fans if he is worthy of his rankings and it will show him what higher caliber fighters are like (when he has a full training camp).

Chauncy gets **** on by alot (including myself sometimes) but he is not even 30 yrs old yet and has over 50 pro fights. He has no promoter, so he pretty much has to get the fights by himself.

Give Chauncy 3 or 4 more viable opponents, maybe 1 bum as a tune-up and let him fight a top 5 or 10 ranked Heavyweight, or a Champion.

All Welliver has done is been the Most Active heavy of the last decade since he debuted as an 18 year old kid. In the same decade he has also been one of the most traveled and reliable sparring partners in the business. He's been pounded on day after day by a majority of the top HW's in that time for sparring wage. When offered he came half way around the world on 10 days notice to see a Gold Medalist when he wasn't even training for a fight. He's criss crossed the planet more times than most people ever dream of doing. Won titles on all kinds of continents. Represented all kinds of countries. And has signed every damn autograph anybody ever wanted.

The dude is as old school as any modern boxer. Many of his fights were paid more by experience traveling than his wages. He's even more old school than even James Toney. Anybody, anywhere, anytime.

Connecticut flunked McCall's MRI because of a massive, calcified crack to his orbital bone. That's what I've heard. In a fight that took place in the past two years, Oliver sucked up too many rights and that's what caused the injury.

Aside from this, there is no evidence of brain damage on the MRI, according to my sources.

Also, Connecticut officials were nervous because McCall showed up in their state with a bunch of non-boxing people behind him. That crowd consisted of karate guys, not true pro boxing trainers. At the time, McCall had temporarily split with his regular trainer, who is an established professional. From what I've heard, McCall is now back with his regular (professional) trainer.

The Connectcut officials never said exactly why they rejected Oliver, but most likely, it was a combination of many factors, including McCall's questionable preparation for Wach, and the oribtal bone injury. Because Oliver's is in his 40s, boxing officials scrutinize him more toughly than they do younger fighters, and at the time, his whole scene in Connecticut did not inspire anyone's confidence.

McCall can easily get his license back by taking another MRI. Trust me...it's true.

The downside to all this, though, is that I don't think McCall has been to the gym since immediately prior to the Wach fight. He weighs around 290 lbs now.

At 245 lbs, with lots of gym work with his normal trainer (the pro who typically handles Oliver, not the non-professionals who brought him to Connecticut), then Oliver might have a chance against Welliver.

It's not clear what's happening now.

Good stuff. Oliver told me he was all set to go on the 27th, they all thought he would be cleared on all sides. He also said he had been training with guys like Erik Molina and others. He said he was ready for a war.
