Now I like Chauncy, he's an entertaining fighter to watch and he COULD be a top 20 heavyweight if he wanted to be, but he STILL hasn't fought a top 100 fighter. And now he's in with a 46 year old who hasn't beaten anyone of note in over 20 years.

Also on the card in Missouri this coming Thursday is 47 year old Billy Wright, who weighed in at 324 lbs for his last fight, in with Raymond Ochieng (23-15-3) who has been sparked out in the first 2 rounds by his last 2 opponents. Incredibly, this fight is for the interim PABA title, and the holder of that title gets a WBA ranking.

Just when you thought the WBA couldn't sink any lower :verysad

If Wright wins PABA title, he will get ranked by WBA and therefore he will be Povetkin's next opponent :huh

Here is "Slick & White" Wright in action last year:

Does Chauncy still post on here?
Any of his fans know what's going on with his career? Is he going after bigger names who are ducking him or is it the other way round?

Yes, Chuancey wants the biggest fights. He has been ducked by Barret, Tua, Cameron and Leapei. He's also called Arreola out publicly on this site.

As for the direction of his career.......A win over a solid 46 y/o Cooper aint much worse for him than Wlads win over 38 y/o Mormeck. Chauncey is a busy busy fighter. He'll prolly end up with 5-6 fights this year, and hopefully for his legacy and for his fans, Cooper will be the least of his opponents.

I'm hoping he gets the winner of Cameron/Barrett or a shot at Grants WBF title before the end of the year. At 28 y/o the guy is still a kid really, but he knows time is closing in and his run at a title or proper contention. He'll get a bigger fight soon. With his no nonsense, fight anywhere, anytime attitude, Im sure on of these pretenders will **** up and give him a fight.

He's ranked top 10 by WBO, WBC and WBA I think. He could get an eliminator even continuing to crush cans.:deal

    Good stuff :thumbsup
I still think he should try harder though, can he not at least get some lower top 100 guys into the ring with him? Surely someone like Denis Bakhtov or Michael Sprott wouldn't turn down a Chauncy fight? So far his best win is probably Tauasa who had a few good wins at cruiser but has done nothing at heavy.

Or maybe a shot at the winner of Price/Sexton for the Commonwealth title?

I'm sure Chauncey would be licking his chops at the opportunity to fight Price or Fury. But those are guys who would avoid him like the plague.

As for Sprott....yeah, good fight for Chauncey. Would be a nice step in the right direction, and would make $$$ sense for Sprott to take it since his chances at contention went out the door when he was beaten(barely) by Dimitrenko. As for guys like Bahktov and Bydenko, Dettweiler etc.....those guys are the Euro version of guys like Butler, Gavern, Brown, Reed etc. Are they top 100 fighters? Maybe, but Clevel competition is Clevel competition. Beating Bahtov, or Petkovic etc would just prove that he could beat the Clevel Euros too. No need to continue fighting sideways just on a different continent.

I reckon the Euros you have listed are a level above the Americans you have listed (apart from Gavern). Someone like Bydenko has mixed in far stronger company than Galen Brown for example.

But yeah, I like Chauncy, hopefully he can step it up this year. 28 is young, but not that young. Bigger and better things after KOing Cooper I hope :yep

Welliver proves once again what a joke he is. Fighting another old shot fighter, a 46 year old at that. I guess this fight is supposed to be some kind of revenge, seeing that Cooper busted up his trainer Joe Hipp 20+ years ago. Welliver has no shame in fighting stiff after stiff. Well there's a slight chance he can add to his abysmal KO totals with this fight. So much for the "big fights" his team were claiming he'd have this year.

Nobody is ducking Welliver. The fact is, Welliver won't pay a live body a decent purse to get in the ring. He expects the big names to pay him and foot the bill for everything while he brings nothing to the table. It's not ducking when you're expected to fight for nothing.

Thanks bro. Hoping to get the big fight soon and we have a verbal agreement that should Seth Mitchell beat Chazz Witherspoon, I fight Mitchell next on HBO. We were originally scheduled to fight Oliver McCall this week but he fell out and we had nobody to fight. We call all ends of the US looking for an opponent. Cooper is solid, though agreed, not the best. I think he'll be a great "warm up" for a Seth Mitchell fight and if the Mitchell fight happen to fall later in the summer, we will fight McCall sometime in May. McCall in a little over a year has beaten Fres Oquendo and Damien Wills. He's still got some skills and will make me work for the win.

    Good stuff Chauncy :good
I reckon Seth beats Chazz, you vs Seth will be a terrific scrap, two very entertaining prospects.
Shame about the McCall fight falling through. Even though he's a similar age to Cooper he operates at a much higher level. And his chin in unbelievable
