    It is, yes.
But the fight is taking place in Missouri, USA, so you will have to wait another 12 hours yet, maybe more :good

This guy is a bum

He's had 62 fights and the only names I recognise are Bostice and Solis, both of which are losses :patsch

If he really wanted to fight a ranked fighter it could be done but the easy option is to build a winning record against tomato cans and make a lot of noise about top fighters ducking you.

For goodness sakes Bert Cooper is ancient and at his peak he wasn't exactly an ATG. Beating Cooper proves nothing.
    :huh:huh:huh

If you look on the previous page of this thread, Chauncy was scheduled to be fighting Oliver McCall who is still a very good fighter despite his age and would have been by far Chauncy's toughest test to date.

But McCall pulled out and it's hard to bring in a quality opponent at short notice.

Chauncy also said on the previous page that he is scheduled to fight the winner of Seth Mitchell vs Chazz Witherspoon, that would be a VERY good fight for Chauncy.

And if that falls through Welliver will fight McCall. Either way he will be stepping things up soon.

Yeah especially when you expect them to fight for purse of a 6 pack of malt liquor. He might as well have scooped another arm wrestling champion to face.

Seriously though, it's not easy to find a promoter who can provide big financial backing :nono

Bert Cooper fought Luis Ortiz last time out. Ortiz is a serious Peurto Rican prospect and is World Ranked. Team ortiz brought him in as Plan A. And then Bert got paid, Luis got the win over a name, and everyone was ok and better off for it.

Team Welliver took Bert Cooper as Plan C or even lower than that. Plan A was McCall, Plan B was Robert Daniels, Bert was the last option.

When it is over though, Bert will get paid, Chauncy will get a semi decent win for the late switches, and all will undoubtedly be ok.

If some of you folks want to help Bert out in another way besides fighting, try helping him get a gig in boxing doing something else. But until then, if he gets a fight and walks away healthy and better able to take care of himself, f off on calling out those who give him that opportunity. Bert has passed all of the tests required to go out and make a living. And it is not his Plan A either. He obviously came back because he weighed his options as a man and determined that his best option was to do some more prize fighting. After tonight, hopefully he has better options with that check in his pocket.

But don't underestimate Bert. That old boy will be coming to win and is thinking to himself....if I can beat this guy I could be world ranked and really get a fat pay day.

So this is not bad for boxing. It is a potential cinderella story for Bert at the most and it is most likely a good paycheck in his pocket for his efforts at the least.

Braddock's Cinderella story came after 23 losses. Same as Bert. Big George Foreman was still fighting for the HW Championship of the World from 45-48 years old. Bert is only 46.

Bert did the work and nobody knows his risk vs reward better than he does. He's going for something huge. And he deserves his right to try. I won't go as far as wishing him luck but I will respect his effort in trying.

Billy Wright is 47 and he is on this card tonight too. And Joe Hipp is about to come back to try and capture The Native American HW Title. So there is your perspective.

How dare you question Bert's right to work. Or those who give him work after he passes all the required tests to work. Bert has now been licensed in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Missouri. This card is in the back yard of ABC Boxing President Tim Lueckenhoff man. Bert is totally qualified to prize fight. Let a man make a living. :deal

yeah...you just proved what a sham of a card this really is.

"the native american heavyweight title" stfu please

they licensed jerry quarry in his last fight as he had about 3 of his teeth knocked out by a guy with 3 career wins

wtf is an ABC boxing president???

the time to make a living would have been the 10 years he was not active... and if you want to count the peanuts they are probably throwing at him as "making a living" you further discredit yourself.

    i repeat
21 YEARS without a win over a top 10 guy......46 years old, inactive for a year, knocked out in his last fight against a 7 win prospect....
if this was plan C it sounds more like plan Z

whats more pathetic than the actual corpse of bert cooper is as a choice of opponent (who is rated # 321 in the world) is that you somehow justify this with a blind eye. sad or ignorant or both :patsch

What are the chances of Welliver fighting McCline? He is old and shot, that should fit Welliver's criteria...
