I'm not going to go as far as you and say that he would stand a chance against any of the K brothers, but he has shown that he has a lot of talent, and now that he is in shape and working with Hip maybe he'll get some power to go with his talent. His defense and footwork is outstanding. The way he controls the distance with Solis is impressive. His power in the Solis fight was less then impressive though.
Originally Briggs accepted the fight with Chauncey on OTR's radio. But since......he has recanted and backed out of it on FB. I think he knows better since he had some troubles with Chauncey sparring when Chauncey was a featherfisted 285lbs. Now that he's 245-255, he's gotten a lot stronger, and has been KOing his opposition fairly regularly. As for Solis....I did give Chauncey the first round, and he had his moments in every round of the fight. Still a clear win for the best version of Solis (230?) we've seen. This 240lb Chauncey anihilates the 270lb Solis. Chauncey TKO Solis. Chauncey UD Briggs
You mean his Z-level tomato can or arm-wrestlers making their pro debut opposition?? :rofl Let's see him KO a top 100 guy that isn't already 40+ years old or shot to hell, ya know like all the guys he calls out (begs) to fight him.
I have it on good authority that Chauncy learnt from this mistake. He would never be out of shape again, always a week or two from top shape now. And if all these contenders can beat him, then they should just sign the contract. It's not like it's a no reward fight for anyone. Chauncy is a world ranked fighter. Beating him would only increase their rankings in ANY alphabet organization. Just sign the contract and beat him and get a better shot at a bigger payday. Simple. What's that? No one wants to sign to fight him? I wonder why? Could this be Povetkinitis? Afraid to fight? Just signt he damn contract. Chauncy will fight in a parking lot if it's sanctioned.
I'm curious, do you work for free? These boxers don't want to sign to fight him because he brings NO money to the table. Not a whole lot of people are going to sign a fight, train, pay a team, travel, etc.....all out of their own pockets.
I'll admit, I really don't know a whole lot about the politics of the sport, or how purses are determined. But how can it be that a top 10 ranked fighter doesn't bring any money. I bet a fight with Solis in Washington State would be huge, or Briggs in New York (maybe).
who would have thought chauncy and solis would be intertwined by all the talk of having that great 1st round...because right now..thats Solis claim to fame...he was winning the first round then got punched in his fat head, bucled his legs and he couldnt get up....KO in the books...
How can it be? Fairly easy to explain. Welliver's "promoter" is pretty low scale in comparison with the other top 10 HW's that are all signed with bigger promoters (e.g Sauerland, Universum, K2, DK, Goosen Tutor). I don't even think he's part of a stable of fighters like most promoters have. That said, they have no clout and no money to back themselves with, thus the calling out of all the name fighters that ARE backed with money. To use an analogy, it's like a garage band (Welliver) calling a well known band on a big record label and trying to convince them to make a album together, as long as the big record label foots the bills. The garage band brings nothing to the table financially, they've never performed successfully on the big stage and have nothing to offer in terms of name recognition. It's lose-lose for the known band. The big band simply doesn't need that little garage band to rise on the charts. Perhaps this doesn't translate entirely correctly, but you get the idea. Now apparently Welliver has conned some unknowing Chinese investors into backing him with some money, so we'll see where it leads. My guess is, he'll lose and be outclassed when he faces a legitimate top 10 HW again.
There is no inevitable showdown between Chauncy and I. Jenna you even asking me about nobody ass Chauncy was a set up he is a nobody and he will remain that way for the rest of his miserable lying life ends in the mountains in which he lives and came. He lied about me wanting to ever sign his sloppy fat a**. It was actually is brother Duey or Deuy that I had interest in signing. Unfortunately his brother's career went another route and he ended up in prison and addicted to drugs. Hopefully he has recovered and he is doing great. As far as Jenna and Jeff I believe that was a back door interview. To have a fat sloppy nobody come on after me and say the things he said especially with him being a co-host was a dirty disgusting foul move. Chauncy to make up a story and complete lie about you almost being arrested is wrong of you but typical of your past and that's why I don't like your fat smelly a**. If I did that why would you have come down to spar as recent as 2007 when you where beaten up so bad that you where sent home? Should I post the video you fat piece of s***. F*** you and your fans if you have any and your lies. I'm too grown to play with kids. This isn't WWE a**hole. Jenna and Jeff you played me by having that fat liar on saying the things he said he should have been on the call or not said s*** about me only because he's a supposed "co-host." BTW I can fight in any state and country on earth dummy. Enjoy your show and website guys, LMBAO. Publicity is something I don't need I did the interview because you asked me to come on. Me working for www.modernadmedia,com allows me to drive over 250 million views to your link and site. Not happening you guys pulled a wack move. Did I mention I make a week more than Chauncy makes for a fight? Full inteview/comments that made the Cannon unhappy http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=29234&more=1 17:30
Shannon, to be honest (if that is you) - being that Chauncy has a heavyweight ranking and you don't. Being that Chauncy generally draws fans to a crowd and you don't. Being that Chauncy has been recently active while you haven't.... it actually makes perfect sense for you to fight "that fat piece of ****" unless of course, you're afraid he beats your ass. Which judging on your lethargic performances in the last few fights you've had is not beyond the scope of possibility, Chauncy can actually box, unlike most of the guys you've been in and won against.
Chauncy started something with Arreloa too during one interveiw - I enjoy him on OTR but he should not be calling out fighters getting interviewed on the show.
