Chaves vs Thurman + Berto vs Soto Karass RBR

I feel sorry for anyone that is missing this,I had a feeling this card would be fireworks.Berto Karass next too could be a war.

 

watch arakawa vs estrada if you get a chance. he throws much harder punches in that one. not sure what hes doing here but its getting to a stage where hes taking too much imo

 

arakawa has basically thrown arm punches all night. figueroa has the perfect opponent in front of him to look good

 

He's taken a serious amount punishment to the body by Figueroa in fairness,those kind if punches will slow any fighter down.Im surprised he hasn't taken a knee yet in fairness.Arakawas only chance was Figueroa punching himself out and that hasn't happened.Very impressed by this performance from Figueroa,did Figueroa just say his hands were broken in the corner?

What is wrong with Andre Berto?

He looks like a disabled version of Adrien Broner.

Why doesn't he just keep it simple and use his hand speed,he makes things so hard for himself.

 

He's 5'6.

Hes very small for the division. He doesn't have the footspeed to stay on the outside so he developed an inside game, which was devastating at the lower level but against guys that can take his shots he struggles because for all his talent, he can't box and move on the outside

In saying that I still thought he'd be too good for JSK

 

spot on. Berto just looks for that one big KO punch on the inside and it don't seem to come against these top tier guys, although i wouldnt' rate sk top tier, but hey.. he din't get hurt by berto really

 

I'd say he's overly muscled as well. he really designed himself to be a short explosive puncher. problem is, you can't knock everyone out. he doesn't even hit as hard as 140 maidana - compare their fights with ortiz.

one thing berto has in abundance is heart. he gets hurt but fights through and can recover quite quickly. i can't argue with the stoppage though but look at him getting up straight away and wanting to continue - a true fighters instinct.

Where he goes from here im not sure. i've heard he was in tears in the ring after the fight. The other losses he had he might have been able to convince himself that he was the more talented fighter and fought the wrong fight or got unlucky. This time he was beaten at his own game and shattered to the point of being in tears afterwards. I don't think he will ever be a real force in the game again. Hes made his millions through his hype, I reckon he should retire

 

Karass has an iron chin in fairness,it takes a serious amount of punishment to put a dent in him never mind stop him he's a difficult nights work for anyone.

 

Retire on the back of three losses,if they were devastating blow outs I'd say yes but in Bertos case no way.He was well in all three of those fights,he needs to go back to the drawing board,he's developed alot of bad habits that he needs to get rid of,like the shoulder roll and throwing single shots.Hes still young enough to come back,don't be so harsh on young fighters,if he was 40 years old I'd agree with you but not here.

Berto was just terrible as usual, impressed by Thurman he hit that guy with hard shots and took it and he took some good ones his chin is legit hes gonna be a problem for everyone at 147
