Why do I get the feeling when picturing Pacman blocking Chavez's shots you have that image of Pac in the 3rd round against Cotto where he was stationary with a tight guard and doing a rope-a-dope with it. Pacquiao did it to test Cotto's power and he certainly isnt going to be doing it in the late rounds against someone like Chavez. Pacquiao has an in and out defense which makes his opponents miss their punches than he does block them which makes body punching attack against him more frustrating unless you got him against the ropes. I cannot see JCC accumulating enough shots in the first half of the to have Pac covering for life in the 2nd half. Chavez also never had that sharp right hand either to snap Pacquiao back when he comes in, Im sure he'll land it a few times but it wont be be enough to get Pac off of him consistently. But hey ill be reasonable I dont see Pac backing Chavez up at any instant in the fight so Im not claiming Pac by KO, and Chavez's power may have the effect you say it does, but its all going back to speed vs. power, I know you all are going to use the Taylor fight to support the claim for power but again you cant always rely on the championship rounds KO.

I respect your opinion. If you backed up your pick from the beginning with a post like that, I wouldn't have had too many arguments. I think Chavez is relentless, and I don't think Pacquiao keeps his composure when he's pressured to the extent Chavez will pressure him. That is where we differ. But I can conceivably see a Manny victory, there both wonderful fighters...and Manny does have the attributes to counteract Chavez's inside work. No doubt about it. Shame we'll never see it happen.

It's a reasonable stance to take, except I don't think Manny will fight in and out all night, he's got too much warrior in him. Also, JCC had a brutal, very snappy and VERY sharp right hand, he's almost as well known for the right cross as for the left hook to the body. He was a two fisted fighter, not a strict left hook happy Mexican.

That's exactly my stance. :good You're opinions on a Duran vs Manny match-up are completely wrong, but here...you've got it right.

Thing is Anarci...I'm puzzled. Duran was perhaps even better at imposing himself on fighters than Chavez was, and Duran carried his power all the way up to 160, and was a terrific body puncher himself, in addition to being a great combination puncher. If Chavez can out hussle and breakdown Pacquiao, Duran can too...perhaps even easier, with greater effect. Duran was such a good defensive fighter, the footage of him slipping 4 Cuevas punches and then coming back with a right hand and scoring a knockdown....is sooo supreme. I've been guilty of underrating the greart man in the past, but whatever Chavez could do, Duran could do just as well if not better.

Yey Pac would give both a good fight but more so with Chavez,I still got Chavez but Pac would do a lot of damage also with his speed. This would not be the Case with Duran. At lightweight Duran was very fast and had better power, but hed beat Manny at 135,140 and 147. Chavez beats Manny for sure at 135,probably at 140 but Manny beats him at 147.

in this thread i read some of the most stupids post by a "boxing fan"

First, if you know a little bit about boxing, you will know this points:

    1. NOBODY can hurt or ko prime Chavez ....
    2. Chavez Deffense was amazing in his prime ...
    3. Chavez was a beast at cutting the ring
    4. The best combination to head and body the sport ever seen
    5. JCC chin, power, stamina and skills was levels above Erik morales and JMM who give Pac Hell ..
    6. Cotto its no ****ing NEAR Chavez league.... come on!!!!! .. even an old faded 38 years Chavez went to war with prime Hoya in the second fight and hurt him Bad... the face of hoya looks worst than in Pac fight ... and this was in Julio`s worst weight ... and 38 ****ING YEARS OLD!!!!

So ... come on man!!! i love the fighter that PAc is, but his fans are just an embarresement for the sport!

NOBODY in the planet ever had the invincible AURA that JCC had in his prime. not even tyson!

Duran didn't have the accuracy and the speed. He had power and deceptively good defense, but he could be outboxed, and he was outboxed embarassingly bad on several occasions in his career. He didn't throw combinations like JCC, he didn't have his chin, and he wasn't nearly as accurate. imho KT would have knocked him spark out just like Hearns did.

Pryor, Hagler and Duran are the Mt. Rushmore of ridiculously overrated fighters. Pac would take Duran, even in a war. He could beat him at his own game with greater accuracy and speed and comparable power. Anyhow, that's another thread entirely and it's been done to death.
