Chavez Jr being protected, ducking the top rankers again

    How unsurprising *sigh*

Well, at least you have to give him credit for defending his gift title against top 10 contenders like Barker, unlike Canelo does.

They help boxers' marketability. If a boxer puts in the hard work and fights the top guys to become a world champion, his hard work should be rewarded. Chavez hasn't done any hard work and is being given false prestige and undeserved popularity.

um he was popular before the belt. You think Sergio is worried about the belt? who would you like to have the belt?

IF only boxing as a business was that easy.....
The business aspect makes people turn & hate on a fighter like they have a decision.

Sadly, this is another step up for Chavez Jr. His dad fought cab drivers, he fights Euros with little pop.

Barker impressed me with his determination and fighting spirit against Martinez. I hope he pulls off the upset. I'll be cheering for him.

I like this fight, it should be competitive and entertaining. I don't really know who is better between Lee and Barker but I like both of them as opponents for Chavez. Chavez does good ratings on HBO so we'll probably see a lot of him in the future and as long as he fights guys who are going to be competitive and make for good fights I'm ok with it. This is a clear step up from Manfredo as well.

I don't know why people are pushing to see a Martinez-Chavez fight, its probably a one-sided showcase win for Martinez. Sure, Top Rank is ducking him but Chavez isn't on Martinez's level and everyone knows it. Unless Martinez starts to slow down or Chavez gets better(he is making progress) than I'm not interested a Martinez-Chavez bout.

Barker has proven himself better than Andy Lee with his effort against Martinez, he made it a closer fight than what Williams or any other heavily hyped American fighter could in the past few years. I'd back Barker to beat Chavez on most fans scorecards but then proceed to get jobbed by the judges. I mean lets be honest the fight between Martinez and Barker was far closer than what the judges were going to display on there scorecards had the fight gone the distance.:smoke
