I see it going like the zbik fight, barker out boxes him for the majority of the fight, but lacking the power, workrate and huge technical advantage to really impose himself. Then chavez rallies late to make it reasonably close and gets the hometown decision. Although I have a feeling Chavez may be better than most people think and thst he may not give the less active barker many opportunities, push him round with his size and then get the late stoppage as barker fades. Either way he's not going to lose officially and it will be less exciting than a fight against lee.

Barker has no business getting this shot. He can be competitive, but that's not the complete point here. A guy of his pedigree shouldn't be getting a title shot, by the same organization for **** sake, in his very next fight after getting knocked out. It doesn't matter who it was against. It's absurd. As stated, Rubio is the most deserving one, but ya never hear a peep about him. And Lee hasn't lost in years and has looking much improved. And these assholes from WBC better get Quillin in their rankings next time.

The best they can come up with is because he's a southpaw  Naw, wouldn't do any good to face a southpaw, there's none to face in the division, right?

Being realistic Lee is really little more entitled to a shot then Barker. And there really isnt much between them in terms of talent.

Depends on whether you consider Chavez Jr to be champion at the weight. I don't. In my mind, his "world title" doesn't mean very much, given that Martinez is the lineal champion at 160lbs. Instead, I view him as being just another contender for Maravilla's championship.

So...The question becomes, did Barker's better than impressive performance warrant a chance for him to face a contender the next time out? I think it did, and a lot of people appear to agree.

    As for Lee?

He'll probably get a chance at some point...And it wouldn't hurt his chance to step up his level of competition and face a contender as well in the interim.

Totally agree. Chavez's title, apart from what ever marketing value it gives him, isn't worth all that much. Martinez is the champ and Chavez's title doesn't change that at all. Titles use to make you one of the top 4-5 contenders but now, since there are so many titles per weight class, a title doesn't neccasarily make you a top 10 contender let alone 5.

Even if you give some weight to Chavez's title Barker is still a reasonable opponent. He might not be the best option but he's not bad and should make for a fun fight as well.

I hate when people say "um" online. It's stupid.

Anyways, regardless of his pre-belt popularity, he is robbing a boxer of popularity by having a belt he doesn't deserve. I'd like the winner of Sergio and Chavez to have the belt. As long as they deserve to have the belt, I don't care who it is.

If Di Bella could get Lee to fight Rubio as a triple header it would be a tough fight but very good for growing Lee's fan base in the US. so the MSG night could be
Main card - Martinez V Macklin with Lee VRubio and JCCJR v Barker as undercards! would be awesome

:deal People must have forgot that rubio KO'd dangerous undefeated
lemieux to EARN his mandatory status, plus rubio would be the best
fighter Jr has faced to date. No reason for the WBC to allow Jr to keep
the belt. He's had his gimme fight, now it's time to defend his gifted strap
that zbik gave him ina fixed fight for a big payday.

    Chavez Jr=Biggest Fraud in boxing

This card would never happen. Too many promoters and too much money behind Martinez and Chavez for them to ever fight on the same card unless they're facing each other.
