Does much higher TV ratings than Ward, regardless of a opponent. Therefore will attract greater advertising revenue. Also bigger fan base than Ward therefore greater ticket sales. Fights more often too and asks for far less money than Ward to fight. Not hard to figure out who HBO are making more of a profit on is it?
Yeah, if Baby Chavez hooks up with Robert Garcia and has a *serious* training camp, I think he KO's the hype job...
:deal This is probably the biggest money fight that can get made for the hype job - but I suspect that this fight wont happen in July because Golovkin's handlers aren't quite ready to cash out yet...
--Curtis Stevens Madison Square Garden Theater, New York, New York, USA-- --The Theater at Madison Square Garden capacity: 5,600-- artya GGG is not as big as shilled on forums. btw; GSP/Hendricks was at the same time as Ward/Rodriguez.
I don't think either fighter is scoring a 'true' KO . . . I see either fighter getting stopped on cuts, however. It will be interesting to see if GGG's power translates to super middle . . .
Actually it was K2 who got in touch with Arum to try and make the fight - per Arum. Chavez and GGG have wanted to fight each other for years now - it just was not workable from a business angle until GGG became a HBO headliner. Chavez called him out in English for a reason and theres interviews from Abel/GGG dating back to 2011 talking about Chavez fight. Now that GGG is a popular known quantity Arum thinks its a good fight. Its also a reasonable introduction to 168. If GGG wins a PPV at 168, then more big fights will follow. Personally, I expect that the winner of GGG-Jr will end up fighting the winner of Froch-Groves II. By then, maybe Ward will be ready to fight again and face the winner of the 4 in a megafight. Ward brings prestige to the bout, but the other 4 would be the draw.
Gate draw = number of tickets x cost of tickets. Tickets for MSG Theater ranged from 150 to 350 with the bulk of tickets being 200-250 with a sizable 350 contingent. By Comparison Ward did around 11k at Oakland for eRod, but the tickets were priced like 25 to 125 with the bulk of tickets being around 75$ range. Ward had more people in a bigger arena, GGG had higher gate draw by revenue though.
