What a **** way of looking at things.

This is a sport where people die on a yearly basis.

He should be ashamed of himself and that's coming from a guy who also smokes occasionally.

I have no problem with marijuana and think it should be legalized but to smoke it during the preparation for the biggest fight of your career is a slap in the face to the sport and all the true champs like martinez who give it there all in training.

jr is nothing but a spoiled punk.

He's an athlete who's been in the spot light for many years making good money off his "efforts" in the game, but mostly off of crazed fans. He made half assed promises to those fans. I'm sure many put down good money on him to win his last fight seeing as how serious and dedicated he took this fight. Which was not true in the end.
So yeah, if he wants to walk on the same spot light, he needs to apologize for playing his casual fans like fools.
He's train of thought is probably along those lines.

On the other hand, why would anyone give a crap about you drinking last night?

Weed is about as much of a performance enhancer as drinking ****.

If you drink beer before a big fight, then yes. It lacks professionalism. It's not about the morality of drugs whatsoever. A fighter fighting for a championship on PPV ought to do what's in his best interest and for the interest of the fans paying.

I'm not sure he should be suspended, but I'm not surprised.

    Pretty much this.

You don't get it. Weed isn't legal like beer therefore he had to apologize for a rule infraction. It's not always about YOU and your beliefs. When you are under a system you play by certain rules even if you don't agree with a few. I have nothing against weed but if the sport of boxing says it's illegal then I respect that. No man is bigger than the sport.

If your a pilot and drink the night before you get your licence revoked.

Chavez knew there was a **** test and for fook sake he was only in training for 8 weeks, can he not have a little constraint.

i have no simpathy for him.

I dont think he needs to apologize, but I also think its fair for his fans to judge him for it.

The dude is in the biggest fight of his life, to try and win the middleweight championship of the world against the best fighter he has ever faced, and hes getting high during the training camp? Hell ya his fans have a right to be pissed....
