there is an article on it on the front page, basically lees team wanted the gloves weighed to make sure they were the regulated weight and was flat out refused!! here is what it says..

Controversy has broke out after the weigh-in of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Andy Lee world title bout in El Paso, Texas over the gloves for the fight. A representative for the Texas Commission refused a request made by Team Lee to have Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. gloves weighed to ensure they met the 10 oz regulations and conditions for the world title fight. Freddie Roach, Chavez's trainer also would not agree to Team Lee's request either. Team Lee were stunned as were many boxing observers and they could not understand what the problem was.

Chavez looks pretty drawn at the weigh-in; I think the rumours of him struggling with weight may be true.

Lee is a big fella, it will be really interesting to see what weights the fighters enter the ring at.

This could be a really interesting fight, so pleased BN have picked it up:happy

    from f*ght news

Moments ago at the weigh-in for tomorrow’s WBC middleweight championship fight between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and top contender Andy Lee, representatives of Lee requested to weigh both camp’s gloves. That request was denied by Texas Commission Sports Inspector Robert Tapia. “They brought their own gloves and we brought ours,” explained Lee’s manager, Perry Mandera, “so we thought in the interest of full disclosure and a level playing field, we would weigh both pairs. We weighed ours out in the open in front of everyone. They would not put theirs on the scale. So, I requested Robert Tapia to make them do it. He told me ‘I’m the boss here. I say whether or not we inspect the gloves and we’re not going to.’” Mandera says he then requested Chavez trainer Freddy Roach to weigh the gloves in the spirit of fairness. “He pushed past me and said ‘we don’t have to, so we’re not going to.’”

Lee’s team issued this statement: “We just want everything fair. I don’t know why they wouldn’t drop the gloves on a scale to remove any doubt about a pair of gloves they brought themselves. Yes, it’s a new pair, but you ever buy a pair of shoes that say size 10 and they’re not? That’s all we were trying to resolve. So why won’t they weigh the gloves?”

Seems Chavez and his team are at it!

Bringing lighter gloves into a fight?!

I wonder has he been tested for diuretics?

Texas, Lawrence Cole reffing, WBC Sulaiman supervising from ringside?!

Lee is gona have to knock him out twice

Chavez is big and strong but that is some serious height and reach advantage. I would be very impressed if Chavez can box with a typical Steward fighter like Lee. If he then commits to engaging then that feeds into Lees game of establishing the jab and walking him onto big power punches. Chavez will need to be very technical to win but maybe he can test his chin/stamina and Chavez has improved alot, and like Pac, maybe he is still improving and in a few years we'll assess this time period differently.

surely ALL gloves should be weighed, if they aren't being weighed then you can just wear what the **** you want, not like they can be weighed after the fight either i'd imagine.
