Moments ago, the camp of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. informed Team Vanda that Chavez Jr. will not be able to make the contracted weight of 154 pounds for Saturday night's clash. According to Vanda's promoter Tony Grygelko, the new weight will be at 156, plus or minus a pound. Vanda said he agreed to the new weight terms because he didn't want to drain himself and come in at 153 or 154 for a few thousand dollars more just to have Chavez come in at 157 comfortably. "The Predator" is pretty upset about the whole affair and says it only makes him want to smash Chavez that much more.

Vanda already beat his ass in their last fight, a few adjustments and he can have a clear victory.

There you go only similarity between SR and Jr is the name and thats were it ends. Still I guarantee hell beat Vanda, hes good enough for that. However I dont think Jr can cling on to his fathers name for too long though.

Vanda is a professional fighter not a bum. Every fighter is at different skill levels. He is at the bottom and if Chavez can't cope with someone of his level, he is obviously done. Hearns will possilby crush him.

I dont think even Vanda gave himself the fight....I believe its on fightnews, he's quoted that the fight could have gone either way!

Someone that would feel confident that he was a winner surely would'nt say that.

Btw, I'm a Jr. fan, but something has definitely got to be done about so many fighter nowdays getting away with not coming in at the contracted weight limit.

.....its happening too often in boxing today, and the worst that is happening as far as consequences are concerned is that the culprit is only getting slapped on the wrist, if even that.

Apparently it is. Boxing has'nt done a damn thing to force fighters to be more responsible for not making their contracted weight limits.

I'm not condoning what Chavez doing here is right, but at the very least he let the Vanda camp know a couple of days in advance that they were not going to make the 154 lbs weight limit.....thus, its going to be at Vanda's option to not go through a possible dehydration process himself, which apparently Vanda has stated will be to his benefit as well.

......too many times a fighter knows damn well they're not going to be able to make weight, but dont say a word until they step on the scale and fail to make the weight.......in the meantime, his opposition has already gone through the burden of a dehydration process.

At least here, Vanda does'nt have to drop all the way to 154 lbs, if he can come in a little higher.
We'll see at the weighin what each fighter weighs.
