Julio Chavez jr is the highest paid mediocre boxer in the world, he has no speed and very limited skills, yet he constantly gets paydays due to the fact that his father was indeed an ATG boxer.

What's your opinion on his career? Is it disappointing to you? Were you expecting more from Chaves jr, or you always knew he's just mediocre boxer who won't succeed at the top level?

Sure, if he wasn't the son of an ATG, he'd be just another anonymous fringe contender. Everyone knows this.

Early in his career, he beat up on fighters much smaller than him. He had some success with that but I never was impressed with his skills.

He is pretty much the poster boy for the entitled and coddled athlete.

At this point he's pretty much a circus act. You watch him waiting for him to implode.

a farce. Wish Andy Lee could have gotten that fight back. That's the only good scalp in his largely manufacturered career.

JCC Jr. was well protected at the very start of his boxing career, but after Martinez beat him he became a grade B fighter.

He’s been a joke for several years, but you don’t beat Andy Lee and take it to Martinez by being someone’s son. He could’ve been Ronald Hearns or Camacho Jr.

If only he dedicated himself to the sport. Did you hear the crowd cheer him on last night? He shits on the sport every chance he gets and still people cheer for him. I'm not saying he would have been an ATG, but he would have been popular enough and in a better position to have more say in a fight with Canelo(no rehydration clause etc.). He probably wouldn't have lost the fights he did. His following would be bigger than Canelo's. He had everything to be big name in the sport with respect and love from the fans. He blew it.

They should feed him to the Charlos for his final opportunity at millions.

I think that Chavez jr. should give up boxing and find other jobs to do. He has no discipline.

I think he has the tools to be a great fighter.
Publicity because of his father, a good chin, great trainers... but lacks discipline greatly and let it go to waste. Might as well throw in the towel and just live off his father at this point.

The 24/7 leading up to the fight between Martinez and JCC Jr. is some of the best boxing drama ever produced. It was mezmirizing watching JCC Jr. squander precious time that should have been spent preparing for a fight with a true wizard of the ring, instead walking around eating cereal in his underwear, swimming lazily around in and in door pool, while blowing off his dad's advice and skipping training sessions.

It seemed like Jr. was actually humble when he started. When his career began he talked a lot about how he had seen his father's career hobbled by Sr.'s week long beer bash's. He also said his father's surly demeanor toward fan's and media was cringe inducing, and that he had been seriously bothered by Sr. cheating on his (Jr.'s) mom. He explained he wanted to avoid those mistakes and he wanted to EARN his success.

At some point it swung radically in the opposite direction. Fame and success did a number on the guy. He became even more standoffish than his dad and he benefited from some loving corruption by Jose Sulaiman. His substance abuse began to interfere with training even a few times a week, and the word on the street during the buildup to the Martinez fight was that he was cheating on his longtime GF with 3 or 4 sidepieces.

All of that said, people will claim that he was just a bum propped up by daddy's name. Not true. The guy was world class even if he wasn't elite. Wins over Zbik, Lee, Rubio, and Manfredo all prove that. As someone else previously mentioned, he outpaced the other sons of all time greats. Camacho Jr. and Ronald Hearns would both kill to even have a win over someone like John Duddy.
