Do you think a Chavez with more time to improve under Roach might have shown better finishing instincts and gotten Duddy outta there?

It's possible...I thought Duddy's corner should have stopped it themselves..Chavez simply could not miss the guy...it was ridiculous.

    hell yeah...
a few more camps together and they will see eye to eye....chavez could've had him outta there had roach been confident enough to talk to him the way he talks to manny....gotta remember, this was like a probation period for them and i think all of them passed with flying colors....roach, jr and ariza......

i love how people like sanchez, cuello and duddy were supposed to murder chavez...but the minute he wins, they keep on hating, hating and hating.......not saying those guys are/were world beaters, but still...the hate this kid gets is amazing...

Come on, fred. This is the first time he's deserved serious props for a win. He's been uninspiring if effective against his previous opponents.

I didn't like him at first but now I really like him. I think he's a talented kid that wants some recognition.

not true, i've seen every single one of this kids fights and though it's been a hell of a ride, he's definately showed heart and a great chin before....like i said, i aint saying these guys are world beaters but many in here were counting him out against ray sanchez, luciano cuello and even duddy....i mean they were saying he was gonna get ko'd etc etc.......when he was ko'ing other opponents, people would say a tough journeyman with decent power would beat him...well chavez got by that and then they would say a decent quick puncher will beat him, well he got by that too with a few opponents and then they would say how anybody at the level of even a duddy would murder him....a few even thought it was a joke to match him with duddy....and now that he's done the damn thang, people are saying pwill and every other name in the book would ko him under 4......

i mean, the kid simply cannot get a ****en break...i aint saying he'll beat the pwills of the world, but i can definately see him molding into a better fighter and making those fights more interesting in the near future.......

he looked impressive. duddy took a hell of a licking. if chavez was a bit more mayweather-ish maybe the ref would have stopped it, if he landed like 30 consecutive punches, because it was obvious it would have taken a freight train to knock duddy out.

When people want a guy to lose, they will always look to the next guy in line and will never be happy. Same thing happened with RJJ, same with Calz. It's part of the game, brah.

I will say this....Duddy is a very good fighter in his own right with a GRANITE CHIN!:patsch That is one tough irishman! Someone needs to check that Man's DNA. Chavez Jr has good power, but it was the amount of shots and combos that he caught Duddy with Flush that had me in awe. Anyone else would have been a KO victim.

On a side note.....Chavez Jr looked great. I'm guessing the PED, Roids, HGH and A Side of Meff accusations will start flowing in by monday.

Are you really trying to throw Calzaghe and Chavez Jr. in the same category as Rjj? LOL. Nuthugging at its finest.

I admit....in the begining Jr was hyped and USED by his promoters. They basically just feed him tomato cans and used his daddy's name to make money off of it. But he's always shown some solid boxing skills. He just never really prepared properly nor took his career seriously. At the end of the day his dad's legacy and legend is a double edged sword. It brings him opportunities but it also attracts a lot of critisim and comparisions. Which is NOT easy for a young man who is following TRUE Greatness. I was impressed with Chavez and I think the kid looked great. And he will only improve going forward with Freddie.

I'm not sure what is hard to guage about Jr's performance?:huh Did you see his footwork? He was showing great lateral movment and side stepping to create openings as well as to counter with added leverage created by the footwork. He didn't waste energy, he didn't take much flush, he worked the body and head...implemented an educated jab. Sure he wasn't perfect but if you couldn't see improvment or a very good fighter then you are blind son. Jr also showed a good beard. His power was the only thing questionable thanks to Duddy's granite chin....but you could see and hear the power Jr. definitely has.

these guys are ridiculous, chavez jr was supposed to be a bum (sorry but i thought he sucked too) then they match him up with john duddy, who's supposed to be the toughest fight of his career, he whoops his ass and now you cant gauge his performance against duddy?

wtf ofcourse you can, it shows he is not the level we originally thought he was, he is better than c level

watch dudes come on here claiming they knew chavez was gonna go onto be good.
