You're right to an extent....but the kid has ALWAYS shown he's got a solid foundation and good set of skills. Couple that with being a son of a legend and you got an equation for "Potential".

Unfortunately he was being milked from people around him to make money off his fathers name and he became complacent.....Earlier in his career he was better than towards the later part before linking up with Roach. You could see it affecting him as a fighter. Guys he should have been able to out class began to give him fits...he began fighting down to his opponents level....and Jr decided to make a change before it got out of control. Look at Camacho jr. Same deal there...except Camacho Jr never made that change. Had he done so I think he would have been great....and I think Chavez Jr will reach his potential with a new start under Freddie.

I agree with you on this Freddie. I've always like the kid....I just felt they were exploiting him for his name and ability to make a lot of money off of it. But I saw talent in Jr. I saw he had a good amount of ability and skill and I also saw him being "FED" lay downs in a lot of his fights.

But you could always see that talent that would allow him to reach a level that not everyone can. He beat guys he was suppose to beat and did so impressively. He just KEPT getting those fights which is why he never progressed, but rather began REgressing as a fighter.

It seems that the chemistry with Chavez and Freddie is great! Which is even better for Chavez jr. Trusting and having a great synergy with your team is not always a given.....if it does happen and you have the kind of talent and lineage that Jr has you might just see anther special career. He'll NEVER live up to his dad's name....but he can sure as hell make his father proud by creating his own legacy.

It was actually a very good and entertaining fight! Unfortunately it was pretty one sided and it was with two guys that were not considered great. So I'm sure it won't be Fight of the year but it was very entertaining. Duddy looked like Rocky Balboa in there. :bbb

I like Angulo as Jr's next foe. At 154. I think MW maybe one division higher than his BEST fighting weight at the moment. I don't think Angulo will beat Jr...at least not the one I saw Saturday.

I've never been impressed with Angulo - he isn't much better defensively as Duddy and doesn't hit much harder. Good shout for Jr.
