Its common sense, any fighter that has to face him must realize they're not only fighting the man, but they're fighting a legendary name. If you want to defeat Jr you have to knock him out otherwise you might as well not even show up for the fight because you have no chance of winning. Its sad, but its true.

I know it isn't everything but you have to make an attempt to BEAT someone not just win the Match. Mayweather didnt attempt to Beat CAstillo.

You make it seem as if Chavez or Castillo were guys out of Thailand or Ponce de leon who come in with no head movement trying to go for the KO. I know your talking about them because we are talking about FM vs JLC. and you made a reference to Sweet Pea.

Sweet Pea was a hell of a tech. A true legend who would have made more money if he attemped to entertain more often. Its sad that people embrace and will remember a glorified club fighter in Gatti more than legend in Whitaker.

Chavez had a sick buzzer beater KO. Not a game winning shot at the buzzer a ****ing KO. NUFF SAID!

 

My point is both styles match(definitely don't match 100%, so don't take it that way and turn this into a comparison to Whitaker, which it isn't), both were defensive fighters who did engage when they had to(Mayweather had a lot of fights where he engaged a lot early in his career), just like Whitaker did vs Roger Mayweather and others in his career. People immediatley label that as "running" or no skill, as far as the Castillo fight is concerned, Mayweather fought him according to his style, it didn't mean that Castillo wanted it more because of his fight style. If that's the case then Gatti(a fighter you decided to mention) wanted it more than all the defensive fighters he fought and deserved the victory more. It's the man's style of fighting, some people appreciate it and some think it's running and nothing impressive, pretty simple. If anything Mayweather's style requires far more stamina than plain out stalking and brawling which explains A LOT in boxing terms.
