Can anyone explain to me why Chavez Jr is the featured fighter on PPV events?
What the heck has he done to earn the right to demand PPV $$$
I know his father was a legend but Please give me a break.
Thats one PPV boxing event I will never order.

arum puts on low budget ppv's when huge networks dont pickup some of his fighters.....he doesn't always headline, i believe juanma headlined the other one...plus, it's always only like 25-30 bucks..and they air about 6 or 7 fights....if you can't cough up 30 bucks then go find another sport or just flat out quit complaining...

That sums it up. If you got beef with someone it should be HBO or showtime, or even ESPN for not picking the card up. When they don't want it PPv is the only way to bring the fight to the fans.

They sell well for their budget and break even at the least. Not to mention Chavez Jr touches the two most important markets in boxing. The casual fan driven in by legendary name value and the "smart" anti-fan who sees Jr as a rip off and are paying to see him lose.

This is why boxing isnt a mainstream sport anymore. ****s like Arum making Chavez Jr a PPV event fighter. I dont guve a **** who his father is, it dosent make him PPV everytime he fights.

I'm not Bob Arum's biggest fan...but it's either PPV or nothing for JCC Jr. I'm sure he could get on ESPN but that's not the "economical" thing for Arum.

There IS a market for JCC Jr and I don't think you can blame Arum for trying to exploit it...especially if HBO has no interest.

The people to blame are the people who pay... chavez jr. aint all that, but if people are down to pay to watch him smash a tomatoe can, do u REALLY think that chavez's people are gonna risk more ppv $$$ by putting a name guy against jr??? naw...KEEP MILKING IT BOYS, THE COW DONT MIND...:D

If it makes you feel better, Chavez Jr. got injured in training and pulled out of his upcoming fight.

anyways, there is always a lot of great fights on these ppv events...if you'd rather pay 60 bucks to watch oscar and floyd hug and slap each other, then go right ahead....

Man that Latin Fury card is pretty ruined. No Gamboa and no headline fight? Yikes.

Now it looks like the card will be headlined by Acosta-Antillon (which should be a quickie showcase for Urbano) followed by Giovanni Segura (20-1-1) vs Sonny Boy Jaro (30-seven-5), Hernan Marquez (24-0) vs Juan Esquer (25-5-1) and Sam Peter vs some dude.

Not exactly the best show Latin Fury has put on.

How do you people not get this. Bob Arum does not own a network. He is not on the board at HBO or Showtime or ABC or any other network that you think this fight should be on. He has 2 choices, he can put the fight up on PPV so that those that really want to watch it can, or he can not televise it at all.

Boxing is on PPV because it's unpopular, it's not unpopular because it's on PPV.
