Let's face it, Chavez Jr. has had trouble making weight. Maybe it's time for him to move up to SMW. He could fight the winner of Ward-Rodriguez.

He couldn't even make SMW. It's not about having trouble making weight, it's about not being dedicated or professional enough to be in position to make weight at all.

"Maybe" it's time to move up from 160?!? He couldn't even make 168 for his last fight.

He looked like sh!t at a heavier weight. I willing to bet he was close to 200 pounds or over when he fought Vera. If thats how he fights at a heavier weight. Moving up doesn't sound like a good idea either.

Chavez Jr should just retire and quit embarrassing himself and his father.

I don't think he has a choice anymore, his own trainer said 'his body wasn't responding' to the weight loss work he was doing. His extreme cutting may have caught up to him. You can't abuse your body like that and get away with it forever.
With his age and talent he probably could, with time, become a top 5 LHW but obviously he'd have to work hard CONSISTENTLY which he just doesn't seem to want to do. How can Mexican fans support this lazy bum? Don't they support working class graft and toughness? At least Oscar worked hard, this bum puts his Dad's name on a billboard and dehydrates himself close to the point of needing hospitalization.

agree. I felt he looked awful. Where was the body punching assault? Jr. used some
body work, but nothing like a few fights back. After all the bs Jr. pulled not making weight, he really needed to stop Vera not get a gift decision. He looked calm because he knew he would get a decision. He should move up to light heavy. His chin, bodywork, and
improved boxing skill really surprised me a while back. Im a lil dissapointed now.

Amusingly Boxrec has him as a LHW now (at #4 as well, just above Sergei K :patsch )

Anyone else like to see him beaten bloody by Kovalev, who happens to be in need of an opponent?

Preparation for this fight was **** & it is pretty obvious from the performance his cardio was gone, his utilized style was also garbage not to mention the gameplan... WTF??

And most importantly they underestimated Vera.
Dude came to fight and deserved to have his hand raised last night.
(Vera rough housing Jr. When he complained was classic, Chavez should get with Ronnie Sheilds)

Look Chavez will never be "Insert name" but last night was 100% why Jr. Wanted to cancel the fight a month ago because of a "Cut" truth is he prob knew Roach was busy & turned his ass down to work w/Cotto & start the Manny camp.
(Freddie prob said **** that... Jr. Half assed the Martinez training ect)

He will have a couple fights at 168lbs then prob vanish from the game.
175lbs & above the fighters will eat the style he is currently using up & spit him out.

Jr loses his advantages fighting at higher weight. He cannot compete with the best super middleweights. His face started swelling rather quickly. His style will lead him to nowhere.

He's obviously going to have to go to super middleweight after this. He won't have great success but he'll do ok there.

He's never going to beat the top guys there but he'll be matched well and probably ends up getting eaten up by Ward in a fight or two.

I wouldn't be shocked if Chavez makes his way to 175 soon and I think he'll really have trouble there. He'll lose a lot of his size advantages and 175 is starting to heat up, though I'd really like to see a Chavez-Cloud fight.

Sakio Bika will fight him, even give him a shot at the title. If the right people can sort it out, Sakio will do it. How's December sound?

    LOL moving up to SMW.

He can't even make SMW, he needs to move up to Cruiserweight and get this over with.
