Don't read too much into this.

At the elite level, athletes sometimes can start to burn out from heavy training. Top coaches typically know to let an athlete blow off a few days, every once in a while, when needed. You come back much more motivated.

FWIW, 30 years ago I trained at Colorado Springs as a USA cycling team alternate, so i know what I'm talking about.

Chavez will blame this when he doesn't make weight and then Martinez will be labeled a ***** if he doesn't want to fight a scale cheat.

Chavez is toast if he ain't training harder than he has in his whole life. I bet he comes in overweight and fight gets canceled and the JCC Jr appologists come out in full swing in defense blaming Martinez for being a ***** for not fighting the blown up fighter. I really hope Martinez turns down the fight if JCC doesn't make weight. I actually like the kid but just cannot see him beating Martinez and wouldn't be surprised if he used the weight as way out. He hasn't looked comfortable in the pressers and faceoff pics, meanwhile Martinez is just oozing confidence. It's like Man vs Boy.

The fight is going to happen. Too much money involved plus is a PPV that is going up against a free event. JR better get his ass at 160 because he knows there are too many consequences if it doesn't get made because he didn't make weight.
