Chavez says his weight problem days are in the past. Is he disciplined now? Will he make weight this time, or will it be another weight auction? "We got 168, do I hear 170? 170 anyone? We got 170, lemme hear 172, 172, do I hear 172? Got 172. 173? 173 anyone? Do I hear 173. Got 173 going once, 173 twice, sold at 173."
He will make 168, tougher financial penalties this time plus he has to make the weight at some point if he wants to go after the titles.
I think he actually tries, but comes in just over at the weigin. Maybe he makes weight on the second try.
Judging by the photos from the press conference to announce the rematch, Chavez Jr looks to be alright, Vera looks bigger atm. Obviously they will be just starting camp but Jr doesn't look like he has ballooned this time. ringtv.craveonline.com/news/312949-photo-gallery-julio-cesar-chavez-jr-bryan-vera-ii-press-conference#/slide/1
I wouldn't say that he's disciplined. Arum has finally made Jr. understand that he would be average at best as a LHW, so if he wants to continue getting those inflated paydays, he needs to stay at 168. Keep in mind that the only thing that makes him even remotely elite is the size advantage that he holds against all MWs and most SMWs.
I think he'll go all out the second time and use his PEDs this time around. We'll see the old pattern of JCC Jr. again; he'll "start slow" and eventually stop his opponent in the later rounds ( really "starting slow" is actually his opponent tiring and not being able to recoupe his energy as well as somebody using PEDs, so it looks like JCC Jr. is boxing better, but he's really boxing the same vs a fading opponent ).
Chavez didn't look as fat at their press conference and the fight is still a while away. I think he will.
