Ive said this all along and I will stick to it until I see Jr's fighting form drop. Chavez would stop Canelo The Martinez that fought Chavez would have stopped Canelo Chavez is too big, too determined, with too much stamina and too good a chin for Canelo to beat. IMO. Every year I say "This could change if Jr gets worse and Canelo improves', and I say it here. Its possible weve seen the best of JR, and he continues to let his unprofessionalism ruin his career, and starts underperforming to the max, and maybe Canelos move up to 160 would improve his stamina, and at some point I could maybe see the upward and downward trends overlap to where Canelo could win. But 2011, 2012, and 2013? I would have confidently picked Chavez over Canelo at 160.
Fatboy Chavez went on an eating spree due to his depression after the Sergio beating. So, after smoking some weed, partying like a rock star he gained some serious weight...well he could not make weight for his next fight with Vera at 173lb. He can make the weight on his next fight. Same way that Canelo fought some inflated lightweight guys coming from the 130s up-to 154 ( :-( ) he can inflate himself to 165lb. Plus he is on a depresion stage after his loss to FMJr. so he will gain some weight. Its even. Bottom line is: Chavez owns Canelo, any weight, any where.
Canelo's the MUCH better boxer between the 2 and is a MUCH better defender as well. Chavez has him in the power department and size/weight advantage. I think it'd be a terrific fight between 2 mexican fighters in their primes. It'd be a very interesting fight if these 2 could meet at 160 lbs, but I don't think Chavez has the discipline to make that weight class anymore.
Honestly, I think it would be a poor poor mans Margarito vs Cotto in that Canelo possibly wins the early rounds on his technique and sharpness, but slowly starts to get overtaken by Chavez late as the pressure grows and grows and the size, chin and power start to take its toll on Canelo, who would get stopped late with Jr possibly having to come behind (though I actually don't even think he would be behind) Would still be a fight Id love to see though, but I think Jr's days at middleweight are over.
Cotto boxes his ass off and beats Canelo on an UD. If the Cotto of vintage shows up (now with Roach) Miguel may even stop the hyper boy. Then he will get all fat and become a taco vendor in tijuana.
Did you even watch Cotto vs Cheateao I? Did you notice that Cotto was beatting the $hit out of Margarito landing some BOMBS? Margarito has/had a raw IRON chin. Cotto lands those bombs on Canelo and the fight is over. Canelo will not get up. ALso, Canelo is NOT a volume/pressure fighter, cant cut the ring worth of nothing and his foot work sucks. Cotto will break him down and stop him under 10 rounds. :deal
You realize, I am talking about Chavez Jr vs Canelo resembling a poooooooor mans version of Cotto vs Marg, in that Canelo gets worn down late by size and pressure. You are talking about a hypothetical Canelo vs Cotto fight, which you seem to have grabbed out of thin air and quoted me as if Im saying that Canelo would beat up that Cotto or something, talking about Canelo not being able to take Cottos punches lol. I really don't even know wtf youre talking about , or how its relevant to my post, or prompts such a stupid question as 'did you even see the fight?'
You are utlizing Cotto as an sample and I gave you my .02 on a hypoterical Cotto vs Canelo fight. Leave it to that. I know what the subject/topic is.
I am talking about how a Chavez vs Canelo fight would perhaps look like Marg vs Cotto, and your opening response to me is 'have you even see the fight?' atsch and then proceed to describe how Cotto vs Canelo would play out in a manner as if I was talking about Canelo vs Cotto, and show nothing in the way of how a Chavez/Canelo would differ from Marg/Cotto, only how a Cotto/Canelo fight would differ from Marg/Cotto Ya lets leave it at that then
