According to Top Rank Promotions Vice President Carl Moretti, WBC silver middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., of Mexico, will likely face Alfonso Gomez in the headliner of a Top Rank Latin Fury pay-per-view on December 4. Gomez (22-4-2, 11 KOs) has emerged as the frontrunner to face Chavez (40-0-1, 30 KOs). New Jersey resident Pawel Wolak (27-1, 17 KOs) was the initial option to face Chavez on the date......................
    WAR GOMEZ!:bbb

Him and his brother Omar. The two biggest coddled fighters in boxing today.

Alfonso Gomez is kind of small at 154, but he did beat Manfredo and Brinkley at 160. This is more in line with the type of opponent Junior should be fighting right now. The Cotto-Pavlik talk was suicidal.

I was hoping that he'd fight Wolak instead, which would have been a good test for him. It looks like they're going to just gradually increase his level of opposition (I suppose they couldn't really decrease it) instead of feeding him to Cotto.

If he beats Gomez, I'd like to see him fight someone like Ishe Smith or Joel Julio.

    Wolak >> Gomez.
That's a whole level down if you ask me, so it's clear JCC jr is going for a unbeaten streak as big as humanly possible without facing any good opponents on his way.
Floyd is going to be jealous when Chavez jr. has a better "0 record" than him, that would be so damn funny. :yep

That said I still hope Gomez knocks him out. :bart

Gomez is not bad, but he's a freaking WELTERWEIGHT. I know I know The Contender, but he's still a welterweight. Do it at 154 and I say it's OK. At MW, this is a joke.

Gomez while not as powerful as Duddy doesn't invite you to hit him so it's a slight step up for Jr. I'll tune in for that one. The Cotto fight would have been suicidal.
