Chavez Jr vs Martin Murray Off

They're in a catch-22. He's outgrowing middleweight and will struggle to make it soon. Plus he can't keep on being allowed to blatantly duck the champion/s. And he can't move to 168 because that's stacked with sharks and he would get eaten up.

 

I know the alphabet titles are almost meaningless to some degree in this day and age, but this is the problem I have with guys like Chavezito and Canelo fighting for them. If you remove the titles from the equation then their standard of opposition isn't too bad all things considered, but it's not befitting 'world champion' status.

I don't think Chavez is as bad as some folk make out. If he was totally committed to boxing - including his lifestyle outside of training camp - it'd be a help, but he'll always make for fun fights and be there or thereabouts. But no way should he be considered a 'world champion'.

 

I agree. Chavez Jr. is not a bad fighter. The kid can rumble but they're pissing people off with the actions of his promoters and the networks. Plus we all know the better fighters would beat him and it's really only a matter of time. The kid is maybe the biggest looking middleweight i've seen.

 

Speaking of Aussie fighters. Geale would give Chavez Jr. serious problems.

All kidding aside, is Rigoberto Álvarez really that much worse than most of Mundine's 'prime' career wins? I know Mundine has fought some good competition over his career but his overall standard of competition is a bit meh.
