Arum has said Chavez JR will be returning to the ring on the 3rd of August in Mexico City.. With the likely opponent to be Martin Murray.. What do you think? It look like martin murray has gained a lot of recognition and praise for the martinez fight. Winnable Fight?
I just reckon murray will put his performances vs sturm and MArtinez together.. And blow chavez unexpectedly away.
There's no doubt that Murray has proven he's more than capable of winning the fight. The problem however is he's fighting in Mexico.
If Murray, Macklin & Barker end up as 3 fighters who shared narrow losses against liner champions (not just titleists) it's all well & good, but without throwing actually winning titles in the mix how favourably will the period be looked back on in the future? By the public and by them? Murray has shown he isn't a 'nearly man' but a decision loss to Chavez could paint a different picture in years to come. I'd like to see a World Title thrown into the mix for the 3 fighters mentioned, maybe even throw Andy Lee into the mix (as fodder mostly) and have some 'British' super fights in which a World Title is contested. It'll be good to cement the legitimacy of this era & good for the actual fighters themselves to say 'I was a World Champion'. Anyhoo, I think Barker should take the Chavez fight. It's a fight he's been after for a while apparently.
I think Barker is looking to fight Geale who he would beat IMO which would leave him as world champ leading hopefully to a fight with Murray(Lee is a step below I think and Golovkin will ruin Macklin) you also have Saunders and Ryder coming through so as a division it looks good for a few years domestically.
Murray loses a controversial split decision, Chavez Jnr goes on to stop an ageing Martinez and Martin becomes a "he could have been great" type of fighter in years to come.
I think Murray will actually win by something like an 8-4 margin on an objective scorecard, but it'll be 7-5 in favour of Chavez Jnr, if in Mexico. I also can't see him stopping Jnr, the kid can take a lot of punishment... it's about the only good thing he inherited from his daddy.
Gotta respect Murray. Unlike many boxers he's perfectly willing to take the fight to them in their own backyard. Unfortunately he's gonna need a KO victory imo to win, can't see him getting the points decision in Mexico even if he dominates the fight.
Murray to get stopped chavez to strong the blokes a monster i really hope im wrong if any one deserves a bit of luck its murray
If its in the Plaze de Toros then it will be ****ing mental, make his Argie experience feel like a walk in the park
