Its not so much what i see in abundance in Chavez as what i dont see in Alvarez, and how i think these two would match up together at this point in time.

Saul is a young stud, no doubt.... exciting, full of potential, and has decent power. However, he is still a very basic fighter, and one in which i see various flaws that need to be ironed out.

Obviously, JR fits this bill as well, perhaps even more so. I wouldnt argue that Saul is the much more dynamic fighter, and i have no problem saying that Saul may (but may not) wind up with the much better career. But as of right now, im slightly favoring JR in this matchup, because i honestly believe hed be able to impose himself on Saul.

Saul is 5'9'' tall, and has never even fought at 154lbs before. I question his ability to withstand the pressure and presence that a 6 ft middleweight Chavez is going to make him feel. I have a feeling JR would wind up forcing Alvarez onto the backfoot, and im just not so sure on how Saul would beat JR backing up.

Im not saying that theres no way i could see Saul winning, he could def go out there and prove me wrong, and also show that hes a lot more then i currently think of him, ability wise. And my prediction only stands until i see there next fights, where it might change, because i want to see if they continue to progress and how much, who knows, within a few more fights i might be picking Alvarez.

But as it stands, i think hed be fighting a guy much larger, who i think is a bit more durable, without any real neutralizing ingredients in this fight, nothing i see him doing that i dont think JR could cope with, and then make him pay and force his fight.

Just IMO.... i do think Saul is an exciting young prospect and cant wait to see how things play out and am rooting for him. Im excited to hear who he will fight next, i just am not sold that he has enough ability, or the physical tools, or style, to overcome the physical size advantage JR would have on him, along with a higher durability and who can also bang a bit himself, in a fight that would see its fair shair of give and take.

    imo :good
