They need to hire a few people to work with him on some things. 1. A Conditioning Coach. He needs to be able to fight 20 rounds, if need be. He, last night was conditioned for about 7, and thats when he started to get into trouble. The KO didnt come at 7, and then it was survival time. Some high altitude training, and tons of intrevals, wearing a weighted vest will do wonders. 2. A boxing coach. The Mexican trainers he has now have not taught him the jab, nor have they bothered too much with slipping, parrying, weaving, and blocking. It's time to get back into the gym, and work on these things, or else, a more experienced fighter will give him that "and 1"
Mora by UD. Chavez might win some early rounds be he is too unidimensional. Mora is too smart would figute him out. Chavez would also run out of gas.
Right now, correct. But give Chavez 1 year of conditioning and defense work, and he stomps on the Latin Snake.
How many awakenings does Chavez Jr. need to have? He struggles against almost every fighter he faces. He struggled against C-rater Vanda. He was losing to Celaya before the 8th round. He was losing badly to Sanchez at the time of the stoppage. One would think any of those would have been a wake-up call, if that's what he needed. Maybe Chavez Jr just isn't that good, and never will be that good. If they didn't try to market him as some kind of star it would be OK. He's an exciting fighter and fun to watch, but he's just not champion material.
I can only hope last night's fight is a lesson he learned. He needs to train his ass to go the full 12, there is just no excuse. It looked like he thought it was an early night, same with that darn judge who had it 100-90 for Jr. and didn't bother to score the fight the whole time. At this point Mora outboxes the **** out of him and eats every jab the latin snake throws. Defense, Defense, and Defense is the key. His jab has looked much better than in other fights but still is nowhere near good. I thought he got a better training in Quirarte to improve but now he really needs someone that will not spoil him and push him.
Man knows his boxing. I'd love to see a Georgie Benton teach him how to slip and dip, and evade, and I'd love to see a REAL conditioning coach, and Julio training at about 9,000 feet, running windsprints at 5am.
