Chavez Jr wants to fight Sergio Martinez.......

I would pay to see this even though jr would get his ass handed to him in a couple rounds. Basically id pay to watch a slaughter.

Martinez gave Williams probably the toughest fight of his career. Williams put major shots in that, got put on his arse for the first time in his career and lost on many people's cards, including mine.

Chavez' power? He doesn't have power at world level, it's that simple. He's not a power puncher and Martinez has a good chin. Chavez has proven nothing even remotely close to world level.

Martinez will be the same fighter that stepped into the ring and handled Paul Williams, or that knocked out & decisioned Kermit Cintron. Martinez would knock out JCC Jr inside 2 or 3 rounds in an absolute beatdown.

 

Anyone who actually believes this fight is going to happen must be gullible or stupid. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is Top Rank's cash cow in mexico. There is no way and I repeat NO WAY, Bob will let JCC Jr near a fighter like Martinez.

Because The way Martinez fought Williams, hbo will want Martinez on their network. And Since Chavez Jr last fight was on hbo, Martinez vs Chavez Jr will be on hbo. The reason Chavez fights was mostly on top rank ppv cause none of the networks were interested cause Chavez was facing bum fighters after bum fighters.

 

Yeah, but that all still doesn't make it a no-brainer to me.

Sergio isn't exactly a homegrown HBO house fighter, he's been on just a few times now. He's certainly generated fan interest and will almost certainly appear on HBO again, but Chavez isn't HBO main event material even with his name. And Top Rank might want to keep this in their greedy mitts and aggressively bid for it, and I just can't see HBO putting up too much of a struggle for something that would fit more appropriately on something like the PBF-Pac undercard.

 

2/3 of their fights (90 combined) is 60 fights.

Jr. needs a few decent fringe contenders before stepping up to top 5 material.
