Great plan but wrong fighter to execute as Jr would shock us all if he boxed off the back foot without getting KTFO after 10 seconds
I think you're just stereotyping Chavez and putting blinders on performances by Chavez where he did show boxing. Watch the Vera rematch, Jr does much much better in it simply by being patient and waiting on Vera. I've been watching some the commentary by Spanish speaking experts and of note is that Chavez may be able to do things in the ring most don't think he's capable of simply because he's physically fit now to pull those things off. Being sharp with your feet and hands is unlikely when you're not fit to do those things.
Lara had the right plan, but he didn't throw punches. I doubt Chavez will be gunshy with his if he's found the range to outbox Canelo.
could be a case of can't teach an old dog new tricks but then again if nacho could teach chavez to use his height and keep canelo at the end of his jab he could pull a tyson fury on canelo. would be a fairy tale ending if jr could pull off the upset. as hated as he is i was jumping up and down when he almost knocked out martinez in the 12th. i'm a stickler for a good redemption underdog story, i'm just afraid jr would revert back to his old loser ways if he does pull off the unimaginable.
I respectfully disagree. He might have done some of those things to Vera but Vera isn't exactly Canelo either. He might try some of those things but this will end up being war because JCC Jr won't be able to help himself. I can't wait for this fight on Saturday.
Imho canelo is one of the best at counter-punching-jab-with-right-hand in the business right now. He does it incredibly well. Imo there will be two wars in this fight 1) Jr's jab vs canelos counter-jab 2) The bodypunches war. I think canelo will win both of them. Jr will have a very rough time no matter what foot he boxes from.
Chavez jr is capable of boxing off the back foot if he really wanted to, but he's too much of a warrior and too macho to follow that type of gameplan. Once he gets hit with good shots, he'll resort back to the old Chavez which is in your chest pressuring like a mofo, and that's his chance right there, because Canelo will be right in front of him. I doubt there's going to be a lot of movement off the back foot going down in this fight from chavez.
More than likely, eventually they're going to go at it, I just don't think that's going to happen in the early rounds. If Jr. goes right at Canelo from the start, that's going to play right into Canelo's hand and to his comfort zone If that happens, this fight wont be a war as Canelo historically has shown us he's one to play it safe and not press on the accelerator more than he has to. Canelo had was outboxing and outsluggling Cotto, yet he played it cautiously down the stretch and lost an opportunity to really make a statement. Canelo will do the same vs Chavez unless Chavez can make him have to fight, and the only way Canelo will dig down and fight Chavez is for Chavez to outbox him from distance and have Canelo being forced to get in close to fight.
El Pollo forced Chavez to drain himself, that was El Pollo's plan...............I hope Chavez knock's El Pollo out cold! El Pollo thinks he is bigger than boxing, he has all three judges on his side, thanks to Oscar..................El Pollo gave up his title rather than fight Golovkin, blames WBC! Was a bunch of crap! El Pollo said he could not fight at 160 lbs. for the 160 lb. title! Now he is fighting an inactive, drained Chavez at 164!
