    From Keane interview:

"There were multiple other offers by Top Rank, which always included extensions. The richest one was a $7 million guarantee with a one-fight extension for $10 million if he won and $5 million if he lost. Again, we accepted the fight but not the extension."

I mean seriously, WTF. Wouldnt do a one fight.. ONE fight extension where he got paid 7m for the GGG fight, and 10m for the second if he beat Golovkin, and 5m if he lost?

The way JR camp is whining and moaning about extension, youd think TR was trying to sign them until 2020 or something.

I don't think it's fair to say that a fighter should have to accept an extension to do a fight. Furthermore, the other side of the coin is that if it's only one fight, then why is the offer so much lower without the extension?

Should a fighter have to accept an extension? No, I can agree in principle.. but in this case I just think its silly because the extension was only one fight and came with Cotto-level money for someone whos best win in ages is UDing Brian Vera.

Usually when fans, including myself, complain about promoters killing fights by tacking on extension... we are referring to Ward-Goossen type extensions where the promoter is dangling one small carrot in exchange for control of a fighters whole career. Not a measly one fight extension where even with a loss, they still make more money in next fight than they had ever previously made.

And the lower offer wasnt in fact that much lower - just lower guarantee. If the PPV did the 700-800k buy range that most people were predicting as a lowball figure, JR would have made similar money to guaranteed purse under extension deal.

I agree. That's in the negotiation, but why should a sporting contest be based upon whether or not you go to work for a given promoter after the fight?

    not how arum works,
timmih had a rematch clause for a 2nd paq fight (with a win which he got) for 10M guaranteed, but somehow he had to forfeit that and sign another extension where he got 6M instead of 10M.

arum is the worst ever, he will keep doing the same bs over and over until you are done

I thought that was re-worked into a multi-fight contract where Bradley, despite not being a draw, makes millions per fight?

Bradley is not a draw, yet outside of Floyd which Haymon guy makes more than Bradley?

Arum aint no saint to be sure, but hes not the root of all evil either.

this one aint on the promoter. the boxer is just being greedy in this case.
chavez offered 7 million for 1 fight and between 5 and 10 million for the 1 fight extension? for a guy thats basically 1-2 in his last 3 fights, thats a ton of money
