Again, if it's just one fight, then shouldn't then offer have been similar? Why was so much less money offered with no extension?

Well obviously Top Rank thinks that one fight is worth $5M+. So how come it can hold so much value to Top Rank but Jr. is supposed to treat it as meaningless?

Who's prediciting this? That's the buy level of Pacquiao fights. Jr and Golovkin aren't on that level.

It's standard operating procedures for promoters to offer lower deals for fighters at the end of their contracts. However, the offer here is significantly lower. Furthermore, TR would earn 3 times as much as Jr. before Jr. would see any upside. Top Rank can run their business how they want. Buy why does Chavez or any other fighter have to accept it if they don't think it's fair?

Every professional sporting contest is also a business. It's only natural that the business side will effect the sporting side, and vice versa.

agree with this... this is was such a disappointment when called off.. .to find out it was over a 1 fight extension makes it worse for both chavez & arum because he arum bascailly called off a good fight over 1 fight... joke

Why should the offer be similar? Are you really saying that this was a bad deal for JR? JR's antics lose him huge parts of his fan base, but he gets his act together for one fight and UD's a fringe contender - then his promoter finds him a payday double his highest ever payday with a promise for 10m if he wins.... just not seeing how Arum is being the heel here. Ok, JR disagrees so he wont fight. Fine, whatever, thats his prerogative but it looks completely unreasonable to me.

Not sure what you are getting at with second statement regarding the 5m for next fight with a loss.

As far as predictions, just some tweets from journalists I think, plus TR floated that estimate at one point (I can see why people would take that with a big grain of salt though). But say it doesnt do anywhere near that - and maybe it wouldnt - but that just reflects on JR's own confidence. Either way, the real deal was the 7m +5/10

I guess I can sort of understand some peoples dislike of Arum to the point where it transcends wanting to see good fights made. I know I am getting there with regards to Haymon pretty quickly.

i dont know where you got the notion that i didnt want to see the chavez/ GGG fight get made....or where i dont want to see good fights get made...

but bob is bob...he is what he is.....theres no way around it...he wont pay chavez what chavez should get for the GGG fight because bob wont get his way unless chavez resigns....plain and simple

bob talks about a financial risk if he makes the GGG fight...yet hes willing to pay him the top figure he offered if chavez resigns for another fight....bob wont make a fight if he thinks he can lose money on it.....so the money is there for the fight...and hes willing to make it....but only if chavez doesnt run to haymon after

Chavez is a spoiled brat. If you can't see it, then you're blind.

Arum has been overpaying this fool. He got paid 2x of Ward's highest payday against Vera, coming off of a defeat. He's asking for well over $5 million in this fight.

Of course Arum is taking a financial risk. If you were in his position, you'd see it the same way. NOBODY knows how well the fight will sell and Arum and is putting a lot of money on the line and Jr. is asking for ridiculous amounts of money.

If Arum is willing to give into his demands, he sees it as investment. He doesn't want to build Jr. up into a superstar and have him jump ship the next fight. I expect him to get f*cked up against GGG, but that's not the point. He's just spoiled.

Seriously. Does Jr. actually think the open market is going to pay him more than a guaranteed $17 mil for two fights? Would he also get a PPV upside on the $7 mil GGG fight? Jr must be smoking again. This sounds like a good deal and it's only a one fight extension.

in an ideal world, every fighter is advised by al haymon and al haymon and schaefer are willing to work with hbo as they have more subscribers than showtime.

Exactly. He's not Pacquiao or Mayweather.

If he think he can go to Showtime and get that amount, he's crazy. Every promotor/network has a budget and Arum is being crazy generous with Jr.

$7 million for the GGG fight and $10 million victory / $5 million defeat is a great deal. Jr. can easily accept $5 million without an extension.

That's more than anyone Haymon is paying who's name isn't Mayweather.
