I have given this guy a lot of **** on here and rightfully so in my opinion. Missed drug tests, failed drug tests, dodgy decisions & protected status due to his father, looking like Freddie Mercury, these things all count against him. But there's no denying he's got a lot of heart (as to be expected from a Mexican fighter) I've watched a few Julio Cesar Chavez documentaries, and I recently re-watched the JCC film on dvd, and there are numerous scenes with Jr. as a skinny kid talking about his father, then a few more when he's a little older and Senior is trying to have a friendly bet with him over when his son will knock out his opponent, a bet which Jr. declines. Rewatching the footage of him as a kid after seeing his pro fights has given me a little more grudging respect for him, I may even be starting to like him a little. I do have to respect him for taking a fight many people (myself included) thought he didn't have the balls for. Besides, his 'this chin, is the best chin' line was plain badass.
But yeah, despite the **** he recieves, he does get my respect for the route he's chosen. All of us would be content with living the easy life of a rich kid. Scrapping off our famous father's name. Instead, he's gone off to try and make his own legacy. Sure, he's been given the red carpet treatment here and there, but it's not an easy job he's chosen. Credit to him for sticking to it, making steady improvements, going out of his comfort zone (training, etc), and building himself up for this fight.
He does deserve respect for taking on Martinez. Like you said Bane, most didn't think he would of ever stepped into the ring with Sergio.
After all the skipped drug tests and the "i am sick" excuse at the Wolak fight i cant like this guy at all
Yea I give him **** because I tell it as it is, but he does make me proud for taking on a killer like Maravilla, but he's getting those baby piranha teeth knocked out tho. I dont like the **** talking unless they can back it up we'll see. Doesnt show anything to suggest he can beat Sergio. Nada.
he looks exactly like my cousins wife then again i think everybody gives him props for fighting sergio
