They've not got enough security to stop Chavez hitting the post-fight bar, before the fight?

big ****ing deal, the fight will happen in Houston, same state so licensing is not an issue, or even in San Antonio.

Both would be a huge draw either way

    From: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/boxi...vez-Leee-fight-canceled-in-El-Paso/54510024/1

Top Rank Promotions, which promotes the undefeated Chavez, who is wildly popular among the Mexican people, said they were told that there were "high security concerns" because of violence on the U.S.-Mexican border. El Paso is a west Texas border city.

Top Rank was an hour away from the press conference at the Sun Bowl to announce the fight when they were informed of the decision. They went ahead with the event anyway.

Bob Arum, Top Rank chairman, said that unless the Board of Regents reverses its decision, the fight will either be moved to Houston's Toyota Center or the San Antonio Alamodome, both of which are being held by Top Rank for that date. But it will happen on June 16 in Texas. Arum said

"The only thing we can figure out is that so many people would be coming over the border to watch the fight," Arum said. "That's not a high security concern, that's just racist.

"The people are up in arms here (in El Paso). The president of UTEP (Diana Natalicio) went crazy (after being told the Board of Regents was canceling the event)."

(Chavez) is chagrined," Arum said. "We've been working on the deal with the university for more than a month. I want to emphasize that it was not UTEP that made this decision."

Asked if anything like this had ever happened to him before, Arum said "never, never never never."

Arum and event coordinator Lester Bedford said they would like to keep the fight in El Paso, but Arum said there is nowhere else in the city to hold the fight besides the Sun Bowl.

"Chavez gets a very young audience at his fights," Top Rank spokesman Lee Samuels said. "He attracts young families, children — children love him —They wear all this Mexican gear, Viva Chavez and stuff. These are the nicest, kindest fight fans you'll ever come across."

The University of Texas public affairs office did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Okay, I get it now. The board of regents are boxing fans and know Chavez is a scrub, likely to lose to Lee, causing mass hysteria and rioting from the fans.

Please tell me how you deciphered that butt-nugget of insight.

I post some information from a national news paper, and you decipher a hysterical narrative. I just don't get it.
