Kellerman is a terrible commentator, but he was DEAD RIGHT about this.

These refs jump the gun instead of letting fights go to their NATURAL CONCLUSION.

    im 50/50 with it

    was Manfredo out no

but he shoulda clinched or taken a knee or threw back

he gave Cole no reason to let him continue, he also didnt seem to protest and had the look of i know what i did wrong

i think the stoppage was ok but was disappointing

I thought the stoppage was ok. Seen far worse than that with no one complaining. Manfredo wasn't reacting positively. He wasn't blocking, holding, or throwing back. There were dozens of unanswered punches there, and the referee didn't really have any choice but to jump in.

Calzaghe stoppage was ridiculous, I agree with tonight's stoppage because he took about 20 shots unanswered, was all over the place and not throwing back or clinching, the ref really had no choice.

The Calzaghe one was a proper joke, to be fair. Forward to 4:15. This Chavez Jr one is a far more legit stoppage.

The calzhage stoppage was terrible, he was landing arm punches against Manfredos guard.

Yhe Chavez stoppage was premature , but far more reasonable than the Calzhage stoppage.

Manfredo had a good 4th round, and I was looking forward to a long slugfest...but such is boxing.

Enjoy your retirement Peter, I enjoyed many of your fights, best of luck.

It's not the absolute worst I have ever seen, true - but it was still too early. This happens way too much in boxing today. It robs fighters of their chance to come back and win - like Kirkland did - and it robs fans of the action they paid to see. Fights should be allowed to go to their natural conclusion.

    So hold on.

Manfredo was not protecting himself. Was stationary against the ropes. Legs looked terrible and he was getting pounded on at the same time.

And you wanted this to continue? Fair stoppage. Quit complaining

He was not his feet, conscious, and in fact was HOLDING when the bogus stoppage occurred. Quit defending these undefensible premature stoppages.

It might have been an early stoppage but Manfredo was not punching back and wasn't blocking all the shots.

    It was premature.

Chavez at the time of the stoppage was hitting about 1 out of every 3 or 4 punches thrown, and Manfredo was in the process of tying him up.

    Terrible stoppage in my opinion.

As Kellerman said, its not as bad if you err on the side of caution.

Exactly. This fight should have been allowed to continue. Manfredo may very well have been ultimately defeated, but he may also have come back to make a fight out of it, and maybe even won.

Referees like this ROB both the fighters and the fans. Fights should go to their NATURAL conclusions.

I hope Kellerman starts selling real estate on tv because all you morons would be buying whatever he sells. Manfredo was out and he would've been seriously hurt had the fight been allowed to continue.
