This is really pisses me off though when you think about it, the martinez who beat pavlik would have completely chewed up and spit out this current Chavez, now that Martinez is near 40 and slowing down and considering his style is completely dependent on his athleticism this **** is bull**** goddman ****ing chavez is such a *****.

should be a good fight at this stage.

Chavez HAS looked better, and Martinez was kind'a lack luster against Macklin and Barker + he IS going on 40 and I don't care who you are age catches you sooner or later....and the style Martinez uses relies heavy on hands down **** with reflexes.

Regardless, Canelo-Williams was officially and publicly announced long before Martinez-Chavez at the most desirable venue in Vegas.
Of course, though I hope those who naively think Arum/DuBoef are truly and deeply concerned about the health of the sport and believe all of their flowery rhetoric recognize that this kind of kamikaze move is exactly the sort of thing that further marginalizes it.

Arum announced a long time ago. When you have Arum hater BigReg agreeing that Arum is in the right then hell has frozen over.

What still makes this a tough fight for Junior is that Martinez is a counter puncher and he still has a hard punch. Kelly could cut the ring off for the first 4 rounds but it didn't do him any good. It took that long to figure Martinez out.

I don't care what people on this forum say. Chavez and Top Rank refused to sign anything close to a binding contract for the fight (and even continue to do so at the moment), and only publicly announced something approaching an official date well after Golden Boy had secured agreements with the MGM and Showtime.
